Abstract

1,023,665. Wall linings. A. FISCHER. Oct. 29, 1962 [Dec. 1, 1961], No. 40854/62. Heading E1V. [Also in Division F2] A sheet 1 of material is held, in spaced relation to a wall 6, between the head of a screw 3 (secured by a wall plug 5) and a nylon nut 2, Fig. 2, threaded on the screw, or between the screw head and a sleeve 11, Fig. 5, spread by a conical nut 12a, e.g. of metal or nylon, through which the screw is screwed after the spreading. The screw 3 may have a self-tapping thread like that of a woodscrew thread but of uniform diameter. The screw 3 is screwed through the nylon nut into the wall plug until the sheet 1 is spaced correctly and the nut is then tightened up to the back of the sheet, by a spanner 8. In Fig. 5, the screw 3, bearing the sleeve 11 and nut 12a, is inserted, then drawn out, by a tool inserted under the screw head (or under the head of a short screw inserted temporarily for the purpose) to cause the nut 12 to spread the sleeve, before the screw is driven home.
