Abstract

C. engine in which a dry cylinder liner is inserted into a bore, the outer surface of the liner tapers conically over its entire axial length. The cylinder bore may be tapered coaxially over its entire length at an angle less than that of the liner. The surface of the liner or the bore may have surface coating of a softer metal e.g. of tin.
