Abstract

1341459 Bolting device SIMMONDS SA 7 Dec 1971 [30 Dec 1970] 56769/71 Heading F2H A bolting device for improving the fatigue strength of metal sheets 1-3 comprises a sleeve 10 having a cylindrical outer surface 11 and an inner surface tapered to correspond to a tapered shank 5 of a screw 4. A shoulder portion 14 of the sleeve 10 may be deformable and of metal. The screw may be counter sunk or non- counter sunk. Both axial and radial compressions of the sheets 1-3 occur during tightening of a nut 8 on screw thread 7.
