Abstract

The assembly nut (4) is threaded internally (5) at one end to screw on to the union (3). At the other end the nut is extended and turned radially inwards on itself to form an internal sleeve (9), which just clears the flexible pipe (2). An annular space (11) is left between the sleeve and external part of the nut and an expansion cone (12, 13) is fitted between the free end of the sleeve (10) and the end of the union (3). As the nut is tightened, the cone penetrates the annular space and forces the sleeve end to grip the pipe.
