Abstract

May 1, 1918 Piston packing.-In hydraulic presses for breaking-down coal, &c., the piston stroke is limited by a flange c<1>, Fig. 2, on the piston and an integral inwardly projecting flange b<2> on the cylinder. The cylinder wall is cut away at b<3>, b<4>, Fig. 6, for the insertion of the piston, the openings being afterwards closed by a plate k with a flange k<1>. The packing-leather d may be secured to the piston after the insertion of the latter, by rotating the piston to cause the stud c<2> to enthe nut h placed in a recess b<5> in the cylinder end.
