[Classes 83 (i) and 83 (ii)} Casting processes.-In casting a trunk piston 8 of aluminium or its alloys or other metal in a mould 1 having the gate 6 in the centre of the piston head 4 the mould is shaped to produce a bulge 10 which is subsequently removed as by turning thus avoiding any porosity in the head.
