851,849. Casting metals. ALUMINIUM LABORATORIES Ltd. July 22, 1959 [July 23, 1958; Feb. 26, 1959], No. 25118/58. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] The metal insert 3 of a light metal piston 1 (see Group XXVI), is cast into the skirt of the latter and separates an inner portion 2 of the skirt from an outer portion 4. The insert, which is of a metal having a lower coefficient of expansion than that of the piston, is located during casting of the piston in an iron mould, by anchoring- members extending into holes 8 formed in the skirt.
