Abstract

642,042. Pistons. WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS, Ltd., and HOWLETT, J. W. Feb. 6, 1948, No. 3600. [Class 122(i)] [Also in Group XXII] In casting a light metal piston about a ferrous piston ring carrier in segments, each segment has its surfaces treated so that the cast metal fuses thereto. The number of segments is selected to suit the metals concerned and they may vary in size. They may also carry a number of grooves 8, Fig. 2, one groove 8, Fig. 6, or form a side of one groove as in Fig. 11.
