Abstract

401,268. Piston-rings. LISTER & CO., Ltd., R. A., and SANDERS, A. F., Long Street, Dursley, Gloucestershire. April 7, 1932, Nos. 9984 and 14457. [Class 122 (i).] Unsplit piston-rings 6 are retained on a reduced portion of the piston head by a threaded looking ring 7. The rings may be mounted in carrier rings 10 of L section which may be built up from rings 10, 12. The unsplit rings may be used in conjunction with split rings, or alone, in which case they are of slightly oval form with major axes larger than the cylinder diameter. The oval rings are mounted on the piston in sets of three with their major axes circumferentially spaced apart and are provided with recesses or projections engaging projections or recesses respectively on the piston to prevent relative rotation.
