Abstract

404,102. Piston rings. CARLISLE, W. S., CORBIDGE, A., and HOPKINSON, J., Eagle Foundry, Stalker Lees Road, Sheffield. Oct. 5, 1932, No. 27623. [Class 122 (i).] A compound piston ring comprises a ring b seating in a peripheral groove in a ring a, the rings being split at diametrically opposite points. The expansion of the compound ring is restricted by lugs f on the ring b which fit into a recess in one wall of the ring a. In a modification one wall of the grooved ring a is reduced in height and the ring b formed with a step.
