Abstract

489,215. Piston-rings. WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS, Ltd., and HOWLETT, J. W. Nov. 3, 1937, No. 30033. [Class 122 (i)] In order to prevent the ends of a split ring from projecting into cylinder ports, each end is provided with a projection 14 remote from its outer periphery, adapted to engage a recess 11 or 18 in the other ring end. The projections may also extend radially of the ring to form abutments for the ends of an expanding spring 16.
