Abstract

515,230. Piston-rings. OUBRIDGE, W. A. May 28, 1938, Nos. 15975 and 19624. [Class 122 (i)] Relates to piston and like packing rings of the type which are prevented from radial expansion by the provision of terminal interfitting means such as, for example a tonque a', Fig. 1, entering a groove b' and consists in constructing the outer fitting means of such curvature as to be eccentric to the ring itself. Various forms of interfitting means may be provided. In one construction a pair of pegs a<2>, Fig. 4, are provided on one end ,of the ring for engagement with a groove b<1> in the other. The rings may be multiple layered and the interfitting tongue and groove or like construction may be of dovetail section.
