Abstract

323,971. Banks, W. J., and Campbell, Ltd., P.& A. March 14, 1929. Piston-packing. - A split packing-ring having a sliding fit in a piston groove has a radial locked joint, the engaging surfaces e, f of which are small and adapted to wear to compensate for wear of the ring. The inner and outer peripheries of the ring may be eccentric, the ring being thickest at the joint. The ring may be made by cutting the grooves to form the joint in a bar, or a number of bars laid side by side, the bars being then bent to ring form.
