Abstract

512,934. Piston rings. BRITISH PISTON RING CO., Ltd., OUBRIDGE, W. A., BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd., and MANSELL, H. C. Feb. 22, 1938, No. 5500. [Class 122 (i)] A split piston or like packing ring is provided with a metal bridge or secondary ring which is retained in position by reason of its tongue and groove assembly. The ring b has a bridge piece a over the gap b<2> which fits into grooves b<4> in the inner periphery of the ring. Alternatively the bridge piece may be extended to form a secondary ring. The fitting may be carried by grooves in an upper or lower face of the ring and one end may be secured by welding or the like thereto.
