873,012. Casting composite articles. ALUMINUM CO. OF AMERICA. Dec. 24, 1959 [Jan. 2, 1959], No. 43859/59. Class 83 (1). A bimetallic article such as a brake drum, Fig. 2, or an engine cylinder, is made by casting light metal on to a ferrous or cuprous metal insert having an as - cast roughened surface. The insert is preferably made by centrifugal casting in a mould lined with an aerated wash as described in U.S.A. Specification 2,623,809, which is referred to.
