Packing, non -metallic; packing, metallic; glands.- Packing for a hydraulic ram 11 comprises a split or undivided ring 15 of leather, metal or other material, which is pressed against the ram by a U or L leather 13. The ring 13 may be positioned by a gland 14, and the ring 15 may be acted on by an auxiliary gland 17 through the intermediary of a washer 18.
