[Class 52 (ii)] In a bed-settee of the type described in the parent Specification the use of a fixed frame is avoided by supplementary legs pivoted to that portion of the frame which is rigidly connected to the seat. The legs 22 are pivoted at 24 to the portion C1 of the bed frame and support it in the bed position ; they are also connected by links 25 to the median section of the frame C2, the pivot points being so chosen that the legs remain approximately vertical and continue to support the rear of the settee during the first part of its folding movement. When completely folded, the rear of the settee is supported by the castors 12 of legs 11 rigid with the section C1, and the front is supported by the panel d, the legs 14 having folded up. On either side of the settee a vertical panel 26 secured to the median part of the frame C2 is provided to conceal the mechanism ; when the settee is extended the panel is lifted with the bed as shown. In a modification the fixed legs 11 are no longer used and the legs 22 are connected to the part C2 by a lever which is itself connected by a link to the leg 14. As a result the leg 22 supports the bed in the extended and folded positions and the leg 14 is compelled to assume an upright position when the bed is opened.
