Abstract

718,868. Bed settees. SKLAR, H., SKLAR, J., and SKLAR, S. Jan. 7, 1953 [Feb. 15, 1952], No. 455/53. Class 52(2) A chair or settee convertible into a bed comprises a back and seat movable into a horizontal bed surface together with the movement of the arm rests so as to be flush with the said bed surface. The settee comprises a base B. back C, seat D, and arms E. The arms E are of such a width that they project inwardly into the seat or back area and each comprises a skeleton frame 23 provided with a bar 22 the front end of which, by means of a pin 21, engages fixed guides 20 while the rear end of the bar 22 is connected to the back C by a hinge having three leaves with intermediate pivots 31, 32. The back C and seat D are hinged together by a conventional hingecomprising brackets pivoted together and connected to the base B by links. In con-- verting to bed position the back C, seat D and arms move forwardly while at the same time the back assumes the horizontal position and the arms are lowered until their upper surfaces are level with those of the back and seat.
