Abstract
380,071. Bed settees. SINGER, R. D., Relion Upholstery Works, Billet Road, Walthamstow, London. June 5, 1931, Nos. 16439/31 and 1142/32. [Class 52 (ii).] In a bed settee the rear section 6a of the mattress frame 6 is supported from the main fixed structure 4 by a pivoted connection 9 located at an appreciable distance from the rear of the section. The seat member 5 with a leg 16 also supports the mattress frame, when in the extended position, by links 7, and the seat member 5 is hinged at 17 to the main fixed structure, the hinge also providing support at 18 for the intermediate strut member 7a. The back rest comprising side-pieces 10 and upholstery 12, is hinged at 13 to the main structure and is connected by a chain 15 to the extremity of the rear section 6a. When the article is in the settee position the leg 16 and section 6a are accommodated behind the back rest and when in the extended position for use as a bed, the rear section 6a, projects by the portion 8 beyond the back of the main structure, the back rest having rotated through 180‹ to the position shown in Fig. 1. A spring 22 assists the extension operation.
