Abstract

514,934. Bed-chairs &c. BOON, T. Jan. 16, 1939, No. 1433. [Class 52 (ii)] A convertible bed-chair or settee comprises an upholstered seat 2, an upholstered back-rest 7, a compartment in the rear of the back rest, with an upholstered frame 11 nested within the compartment, the back-rest and the frame 11 being adapted to be swung rearwardly to form two upholstered bed parts in line with - the seat. The back rest 7 may be connected to seat frame members 3 by links 8, and retained in position by a detachable bar 9 slotted or provided with spigots or tenons to engage the arm rests 10. The frame 11 is hinged at 14 to the back rest and is retained by the bar 9. A double butt hinge or other means may be provided in place of the links 8. The bar 9 may be omitted, and fittings on the back rest 7 may engage sockets in the arm rests 10.
