364,980. Chairs convertible into beds. DUCROT, A., 5, Rue des Colonnes du Trone, Paris. April 29, 1931, No. 12689. Addition to 358,364. [Class 52 (ii).] The armchair convertible into a couch, of the parent Specification, is so modified that when the seat slides forwardly or rearwardly the back is subjected to a movement of translation reverse to that of the seat, while, at the same time, its inclination is varied. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the seat 3 is connected to the back 7 by members 13, 28, 29, the latter being pivoted at the fixed point 30 and engaging a pin 33 on the back. Links 34, 9 are pivoted at 36 to the back 7, the link 9 being also pivoted at the fixed point 10. As the seat 3 is moved inwardly, the back 7 also is moved inwardly longitudinally, and is raised slightly during the motion. In the modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the seat 3 is supported at its front on the cross-bar 2 and at its rear by the lever 13. The pivot 30, rigid with the lever 29 can be accommodated either in an upper notch or at the bottom of a groove formed in a plate rigid with the rear upright, thus allowing an additional angular adjustment of the back.
