Abstract

767,962. Bed settees. CAISLEY, E., and CAISLEY, W. F. Jan. 26, 1955 [Jan. 27, 1954; May 3, 1954; May 3, 1954], Nos. 2529/54, 12801/54, and 12802/54. Class 52 (2). The back 7 of a settee is pivoted at 28 to the supporting frame 1 and is connected by links 35, 34, 33 to the seat 9 so that the latter is moved forwardly on castors 15, as the back is lowered, to expose an intermediate section 8 which is simultaneously raised by links 29, 30 into alignment with the back and seat to form a bed. The parts 7 and 8 are covered by a unitary mattress 12 and an overlay 22 covers all the mattress when extended. The arms 40 of the settee have a pin and socket connection 47, 48 at the front and pintles 42, 43 at the rear so that they can be swung toward the bed head as shown in Fig. 5. Head and foot boards may be hinged to fold into sliding trays 50 mounted in the respective parts of the frames.
