A foldable arm chair consists of a front frame comprising the front legs and a rear frame comprising the rear legs 24 and back, the frames being rigid and of parallelogram form. The frames are connected in a foldable manner by pivoted links comprising the arm rests, pivoted members at seat height and by members 27 pivoted to the front legs and being provided at the rear with a transverse rod 26 slidable in slots 25 in the rear legs 24. The upper extensions of the front legs as well as the uprights 24 are capable of being shortened in the folded position by connecting parts of the extensions or uprights by hinges and in a slidable manner. Fabric seat 28 and back 29 are provided.
