Abstract

744,330. Folding chairs. MARTIN, R. G. July 2, 1954 [July 14, 1953], No. 19451/53. Class 52(2). In a chair wherein interconnected front and rear legs are pivoted to the seat frame 1, to which the back frame 7 is also independently hinged, the lower ends of the back frame abut the seat frame to limit the unfolding. As shown, in a modification with arm rests, the links 30, 33 connecting the front and rear legs are pivoted at their front ends above the level of the seat. Spacers 37, 38 and an extended rear bar 6, to which the rear legs are pivoted, enable the legs and links to fold into the plane of the seat frame. When arm rests are omitted the connecting links from the front legs are pivoted to upward extensions of the rear legs.
