Abstract
769,608. Seats. ROGERS, Ltd., G. May 2, 1955 [Feb. 10, 1955], No. 3947/55. Class 52 (2). A folding seat comprises two front uprights 10, forming the front legs, connected by arm rests 15 and set frame 16 to a back frame 11 and has the back legs 24 pivoted to the uprights 10 and adapted to provide stops for the back frame which take the form of crossbars 25 extending between the back legs 24 into which a batten 14, extending slightly below the back frame, engages. The arm rests 15 are hinged at 19 to the uprights 10 and are pivoted at 20 to the back frame while the seat frame 16 is pivoted at 22 to the uprights 10 and hinged at 21 to the back frame. A series of crossbars may be provided to give several angular settings of the back frame. Preferably transverse helical springs are provided in the seat and back frames as support for upholstery although sling or other seat and back rests may be fitted.
