Abstract

595,948. Adjustable chairs. AVERY, N. S. July 10, 1945, No. 17633. [Class 52(ii)] A chair adjustable from a high to a low seating position has an integral seat 3 and back 4 pivoted at 5 tc a supporting frame I and supported in the upper position by pairs of struts 6, 7 one of which is pivoted at 9 to the seat and back unit and engages a cross-bar 11 thereon, while the other is pivoted at 1C to the frame 1. Tc lower the seat it is tilted to straighten the links 6, 7 which can then be swung past their dead centre to allow the part 4 previously serving as the back, to be lowered to serve as the seat in which position it rests on a crossbar 2.
