[Class 52 (ii).] In a convertible bed-settee or bed-chair, the lever mechanism for attaching the seat to the settee frame comprises two pairs of toggle levers, one lever of each pair being pivotally attached, one below the other, to a bracket member attached to the frame, and being toggle jointed to. its associated lever which is pivotally attached to a bracket member attached to the seat, and the lever which is toggle jointed to the higher of the two levers attached to the frame bracket member is pivotally attached to the seat bracket member nearer to the front thereof (in the closed position) than the other lever which is pivoted to the seat bracket. The settee frame comprises side members 6, Fig. 1, a back 7 and a front board 8. The bed frame comprises pivoted sections 9-12, the inner section 9 being pivoted to a bracket 14. The rear intermediate section 10 is supported on a strut 17 pivoted at 18 in the settee frame. The seat 20 is supported by links 21 from sections 11 and 12 of the bed-frame, and is provided with supporting legs 24. The seat is connected to the settee frame by lever mechanism comprising a bracket 28 attached to the frame, and a bracket 31 attached to the seat, and connected to the bracket 28 by a pair of toggle levers 32, 33, and 34, 35. The levers 32 and 33 are toggle jointed at 36, Figs. 3 and 5, and the lever 32 is pivoted to the bracket 28 at a point 37 in rear of and below the pivot 38 of the lever 34. The lever 33 is pivoted at 39 to the bracket 31 at a point which in the folded position shown in Fig. 3 is in rear of and above the pivot 40 of the lever 35. The levers 34, 35 are toggle jointed at 41, and the lever 34 is extended beyond the pivot 41 to provide an extension 34<a> which is pivoted at 42 to the lever 33. This construction ensures that the front board 30 of the seat rises clear of the front 8 of the settee on unfolding. Figs. 7 and 9 show a modified form of construction, in which the pivot 38 of the lever 34 is vertically above the pivot 37 of the lever 32, and the toggle levers are pivoted to a seat bar 31<a>. The levers 33 and 35 are straight. A clip 44 which holds the strut 17 against lateral displacement is provided on the bracket 28.
