Abstract
373,254. Bed - settees. GARRETT, W. C., 39, Hamilton Crescent, Palmers Green, London. Feb. 18, 1931, No. 5140. [Class 52 (ii).] A bed settee comprising a rear section 5 two intermediate sec - tions 6 and 7 and a front section 8 all hingedly connected together by check plates 12, has two control elements 14 each having a free and unattached end with a claw 17, the elements being secured to the seat 2 and pivotally mounted on the main frame of the settee and adapted to rotate with the seat, the free ends engaging pins 10 and assisting thereby in extending the bed frame from the folded position. Each control element has a main pivot pin 15 fitting in a housing on the front leg of the frame and possesses a flat projection 18 and lug 181 which combine with a bracket 19 and the claw 17 to support the section 6 by a cantilever action when the bed is in the extended position. The seat 2 is connected to sections 7 and 8 by links 22 and 23 and is provided with a foot 24 to support the bed. A spring 33 assists in the folding of the bed frame. In the mounting of the rear section 5, two spaced projections 35 and 36 engage a substantially T-shaped slot in a guide-plate 37, so that the section is supported by a cantilever action and the guide slot has a projection 42 on its upper edge which coacts with the projections to assist in the folding of the frame.
