[Class 52 (ii)] The convertible bed-settee described in the parent Specification, comprising a pivoted back and a mattress consisting of three movable elements joined together and controlled by a system of cranks and levers, is modified by the provision of horizontal guide rails 40, which guide the front part of the head element of the mattress 4, and curved guide rails 45 which guide the rear part thereof. The article comprises a fixed frame and a movable spring mattress consisting of a head element 4, a median element 5, and a foot element 6, the latter having an upturned portion 11 which in folded position forms the seat. The head element 4 is supported by rollers running in the guide rails 40 and 45. The fixed frame may be made without arm-rests. The element 4 is connected to the element 5 by means of a plate 7 secured to the element 4 to which the element 5 is pivotally connected by pins 9, and the element 6 is connected to the element 5 by hinges comprising plates 49, 50 bent at right angles and pivoted by pins 51, the hinges being concealed in slots in the element 6. The plates 7 are extended beyond the pins 9 and connected by links 53 to folding legs 30, the latter being connected to the element 6 by links 31. The seat back 17 is provided with slides 43 in which engage pins 44 on the fixed frame, and is pivoted at 16 to the head element 4. The upper part 17<a> of the back 17 abuts when in the seat position against a hinged board 57.
