Abstract
666,837. Seats. PARFITT, S. E. July 19, 1950. [Dec. 13, 1949] No. 31970/49. Class 52 (ii). A folding chair comprises at each side a rearwardly inclined seat member 1 supported at the front by a hinged leg 15 and a back member 6 the lower end of which is provided with a tooth or projection 11 adapted to engage adjustably with a rack 13 on the member 1 to which the back member 6 is pivoted preferably by means of a pin 10 engaging a slot 9 in a bracket member 7 secured to the member 1. The legs 15 are linked to the back members 6 by links 7 whereby when the back members 6 are folded forwardly on to the seat members 1 the legs 15 are drawn into the plane of the seat members 1. An abutment 14 or other stop is provided to prevent each back member from collapsing backwardly. Canvas &c. seating is secured to the front cross bar 2 of the seat members 1 and the top cross bar 5 of the back members 6.
