Abstract

1,204,507. A folding chair. A. E. TURNER. 21 Nov., 1968 [21 Aug., 1967], No. 38512/67. Headings A4H and A4J. In a folding chair, the length of the rear legs 21 below the back-rest 26 is selectable, i.e. the actual length of the rear legs below the pivot is adjustable either by a sliding connection or by pivoting one of a number of rear legs into position. Each limb 22 of the rear leg frame U passes through a separate swivel clamp 19 which is pivotally mounted to the seat portion 10. The back-rest 26, which may be an inverted U tubular frame covered with canvas, is pivoted to the frame 10 at 25, the free ends 28 being inturned to provide an abutment to engage with clamps 19 and limit back pivoting of the back-rest 26. The pivotally mounted U-shaped front leg portion 16 has a cross-bar 11 which acts as an abutment to limit forward pivoting of the front legs.
