573,607. Child's seat' for bicycles. LAWSON, E. A. Nov. 13, 1943, No. 18934. [Class 136 (i)] A rear luggage carrier of the type having its front portion 5 secured to the cycle frame and the rear portion supported by oblique stays 20 is adapted for use as a child's seat by a backrest 10c connected to the horizontal carrier surface 2 by hinges which allow the back-rest to fold forwardly on to the surface, but prevent any rearward swing of the back-rest beyond the opened-out position. The luggage carrier 2 is supported by a clip 9 and the stays 20, and the back-rest 10c is extended beyond the pivot 10e to abut a stop 11 when in the open position, a hinged catch 12 retaining it in this position. Arm-rests 13a, 13c are pivoted to the back-rest and fold with it, and adjustable foot-rests 14 are supported by a clamp 17 adjustable on slotted links 15 pivoted to the luggage carrier' and slotted links 16 pivoted to the stays 20. The carrier is bent up of strip metal with crossbars to form the seat and is narrowed at 6 to provide room for the child's legs.
