Abstract

1348695 Seats EXPO NORD A B 10 May 1971 [11 Feb 1971 26 Feb 1971] 14001/71 Headings A4H; A4J; A4M A piece of sitting furniture comprises a back rest 1, a seat member 2, front and rear legs 3, 4, and two lateral frame bars 5 which have seat portions extending each along one side edge of the seat member and merging at the front end in bar portions which are first bent downwardly and then rearwardly and upwardly to have, in side elevation, the form of an open U forming a leg 3 the rear limb being extended upwardly past the seat member and bent rearwardly to form an arm rest portion 6. The chair may comprise two bars 5 connected by rigid body-supporting material 7 of wood or plastics forming the back and seat, or connected by flexible body-supporting material 11, Fig.2, the bars 5 being separated by spacers 7A. As shown the bars 5 have narrow mouth channels 9 receiving a looped hem, with a cord or wire 13 inserted to form a bead. Each spacer 7A comprises a central guide tube 14 receiving threaded end journals 15 held by nuts 16, the journals 15 passing through holes in the bars 5 to press against central partitions.
