Abstract
634,008. Seats. HAUGHTON, W. H. March 2, 1948, No. 6501. [Class 52 (ii)] A chair, usable as a divan, is provided with a back which may be withdrawn from its normal position and secured in, a position in which it is in alignment with the seat. The chair comprises two tubular side frames, transversely connected, in which the ends of the top sides 1, 2 and the top of the rear legs 1c, 2c are welded together so as to leave the bores of the tubing free for the insertion of the pins 7 of the back. The back frame is provided with a pivoted strut 8 and with a cross tube 10 which forms an abutment for the strut 8 when the back is placed in alignment with the seat. A seat 5 and back 11 are secured to the respective frames. Two or more chairs placed together when the seats and backs are in alignment may serve as a bed frame.
