Abstract

1416698 Invalid chairs LANDSTINGENS INKOPSCENTRAL 30 Nov 1972 [2 Dec 1971] 55427/72 Heading B7B [Also in Division A4] An invalid chair is provided with a seat 24 pivotally connected at its rear end to a backrest 16 and at its front end to the upper part 40 of a leg-rest, the lower part 38 of the leg-rest being longitudinally displaced relative to the upper part and the upper part being pivoted about its pivotal connection 44 with the seat 24 when the back-rest is rearwardly displaced about its pivotal connection 20 with the seat frame. A rod 56 is pivotally connected to the back-rest and extends into a tube 54 pivotally connected to a bracket 48 extending from the upper part 40 and to a linkage 68, 70 pivotally connected to the lower part 38. An arm 58 engages with one of a number of lugs 66 on the tube to hold the leg-rest in an adjusted position. In a second embodiment, the end of the tube 54 is fixed to a linkage 68a, 70a pivotally connected to the lower end of the lower part of the leg-rest, a link 48a being pivotally connected to the pivotal connection 44 and to a point in tube 54 spaced from the end thereof. A calf support 76 may be connected to link 70a. In a third embodiment the upper and lower parts 85 and 80, respectively, of the leg-rest form opposed sides of a parallelogram linkage.
