1,056,393. Reclining chairs. STANZWERK PEITZ & CO. Aug. 3, 1965 [Aug. 10, 1964], No. 33192/65. Heading A4J. In a reclining chair having a rigidly interconnected seat and back rest unit, rotation of seat bearing links 22 anticlockwise through approximately a right angle about their fixed pivots 21, moves pivots 32, connecting seat 13 and levers 311, around fixed pivots 38 in flattened semi-circular paths to diametrically opposite positions, in which foot-rest 14 is folded up beneath seat 13. In another form, a parallelogram linkage supports foot-rest 14 (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) and is controlled by levers 41 parallel to levers 311. In a further construction (Figs 1 and 2, not shown), the foot-rest is hinged directly to the front edges of the seat and levers 311 are reduced to short arms 24 fixed to the footrest. The chair takes up the reclining position on rearward displacement of the weight of the occupant.
