[Class 52 (ii)] A convertible chair-bed comprises a fixed frame 1, Figs. 1 and 2, a sliding seat frame 2, and a two-part back frame 3, 4, the front frame being hinged at 7 to the seat frame 2, the rear frame pivoted at 6 to the fixed frame 1, and the frames 3, 4 hinged together at 5. The rear back frame 4 carries brackets 8, with pins 9, Fig. 7, which bear in slots in plates 11 secured to the frame 1, and cam surfaces 12 on the brackets 8 engage levers 13 pivoted to the plates 11, the other ends of the levers engage rods 15 supported in the base frame 1 by guides 18, Fig. 2, and connected to other rods 16, 17 which are supported on the frames 2, 3 by arms 19. Extensions of the arms 19 carry rollers 21 which run on tracks 22, Fig. 1, in the frame 1 and support the frames 2 and 3 in the extended position. Specification 421,667 is referred to.
