La SAFT (Shear Adhesion Failure Temperature) es una prueba rápida de la resistencia a corto plazo de las cintas adhesivas a la temperatura en aumento.
Se pega una cinta adhesiva, cortada en una anchura de 10 mm y provista de un refuerzo de 5 mm de anchura por el
5 reverso, sobre una placa de acero mantenida a temperatura constante y pasando un rodillo de acero de 2 kg sobre dicha cinta con una velocidad de 10 m/min, ida y vuelta, 3 veces. La tira de ensayo pegada de este modo y el refuerzo se cortan por el canto superior en la misma longitud, para que el sensor o palpador pueda registrar el camino de cizallamiento recorrido durante la medición. La muestra preparada se somete a un esfuerzo de cizallamiento con el peso predeterminado de 50 g. Durante la prueba se anotan el tramo de cizallamiento en µm y la
10 temperatura en ºC. Se calienta la superficie de la unión pegada a razón de 9ºC/min empezando en 30ºC y terminando en 200ºC. La medición finaliza en el momento en el que se alcanza la temperatura final predeterminada de 200ºC o cuando se alcanza un tramo de resbalamiento de 1000 µm.
