COLI, PARA LA FORMACION EFECTIVA DE PROTEINAS RECOMBINANTES, EN PARTICULAR MOLECULAS DE ANTICUERPOS RECOMBINANTES, PREFERENTEMENTE FRAGMENTOS DE ANTICUERPOS TALES COMO MINIANTICUERPOS. EN ESTAS CONDICIONES, LAS CELULAS DE E. COLI PUEDEN CRECER HASTA UN MARGEN MAXIMO DE CRECIMIENTO ESPECIFICO, ALCANZANDO DENSIDADES CELULARES MUY ELEVADAS. CUANDO COMIENZA A FORMARSE EL PRODUCTO RECOMBINANTE, SOLO EL PRODUCTO FORMADO CRECE DE FORMA LIMITADA. EN SUSTRATOS O SUBPRODUCTOS METABOLICOS NO EXISTE TAL LIMITACION EN EL CRECIMIENTO.
