Definitions

  • the invention relates to a burning lamp, in particular a lantern, with the preamble features of claim 1.
  • a corresponding suspension with various uses is also described.
  • Such lights are often used outdoors (garden, terrace, etc.) for decorative lighting at a garden party.
  • such burning lights In order to achieve a stable flame, even in strong winds, such burning lights usually have a housing made of glass. That's how it is from the DE 94 16 788 U1 a lantern made of stainless steel and glass.
  • the open-topped glass tube that serves as a windbreak usually has to be removed from the base (base part) in order to easily reach the wick. This is also often necessary to extinguish the flame.
  • the problem arises that the wick of the fuel is moistened by rain, so that re-lighting is hardly possible.
  • WO 2017/025192 the applicant describes a tea light that can be turned "overhead" just like a fire basket.
  • the fuel in a bowl tilts through 180° in an unchanged horizontal position, so that the flame then hits a (closed) base and then quickly goes out due to lack of air.
  • This principle can also be applied to floor lamps or hanging lamps, whereby the lamp housing is turned upside down to extinguish the flame, but the shell, which is mounted on an axle, remains in a horizontal position.
  • the pivoting or tilting movement should therefore take place exactly parallel to a side edge of the (preferably cubic) housing.
  • a burning lamp should be created that improves the burning time while being comfortable to use.
  • an "overhead" pivoting suspension for various applications is to be described, which allows pivoting in all directions, i.e. independently of a side edge.
  • the proposed burning lamp can be made from a few components, in particular with a (hollow) glass cylinder as a translucent housing part for wind protection outdoors and a base and a support shell for pivotally holding a fuel, e.g. B. a candle.
  • a (hollow) glass cylinder as a translucent housing part for wind protection outdoors and a base and a support shell for pivotally holding a fuel, e.g. B. a candle.
  • a sheet metal tube that is open at the end and whose outer jacket has many slots or openings can also be used as a translucent housing part.
  • company logos etc. can also be stamped or cut in to achieve the desired light transmission for illuminating the surroundings.
  • the pivotable mounting of the carrier shell on a gimbal suspension ensures complete mobility around two axes (preferably at right angles to each other), so that users no longer have to pay attention to the tilting direction parallel to an axis, but can tilt the lamp in any direction and " "upside down".
  • the carrier shell is practically completely encased and the flame of the fuel is smothered. Even if the edge gaps are not 100% sealed, the carbon monoxide that is still produced sinks downwards and thus blocks the air supply to the fuel.
  • Another advantage here compared to the usual manual squeezing of the wick, is that it is not touched or bent when the wick is suffocated, so that re-lighting (e.g. the next day) can be carried out more easily, i.e. the fuel is completely used up can be.
  • Fig. 1 shows a burning lamp 1, in particular in the form of a lantern, with a base 3 and a housing part 2 placed on it, here translucent, and with a carrier shell 4 (for a fuel).
  • the fuel is preferably a wax candle, the wick of which is lit here, as indicated schematically with a flame.
  • the carrier shell 4 can be pivoted relative to the housing part 2 and also to the hemispherical base 3 by means of a gimbal suspension 5 about two axes (5b-5b; 5c-5c), each of which is formed by two pins with the same axis.
  • a gimbal suspension 5 about two axes (5b-5b; 5c-5c), each of which is formed by two pins with the same axis.
  • Such a structure is also useful for food containers, in which case a sugar supply, for example, is accommodated in the carrier tray 4 (or a variable fragrance dispenser).
  • Fig. 2 how out Fig. 2 (and the other figures), two pins 5b on a ring 5a are aligned radially outwards and two pins 5c are aligned radially inwards towards the carrier shell 4. Therefore, the carrier shell 4 can move in two dimensions, i.e. has two so-called degrees of freedom, so that the carrier shell 4 always remains exactly aligned in its horizontal plane regardless of the inclination of the combustion lamp 1 and thus no fuel (e.g. oil) can leak.
  • the base 3 has a largely hemispherical outer shape, so that the burning lamp 1 can easily be tilted into the ignition position shown here (and remains stable in this position) in order to ignite the fuel with a match, as shown here in dot-dash lines.
  • Igniting is an advantage because the wick of the fuel often lies relatively flat and the burning lamp 1 can therefore preferably be tilted in this direction in order to easily reach the wick with the match within the usually quite narrow glass tube.
  • the good accessibility also applies e.g. B. for a sugar bowl, whereby a teaspoon is used instead of the match to access the sugar supply in the carrier bowl 4.
  • the bowl itself remains in a horizontal position in every tilting direction, so that the sugar supply can be easily reached, but in the "upside down" position (cf. Fig. 5 ) is covered in a hygienic manner.
  • the lamp 1 is in the tilt position according to Fig. 2 is inherently stable in this position, the lower end 3a of the hemispherical base 3 is flattened according to the invention as a standing surface in order to ensure stability in the usual operating position Fig. 1 to increase.
  • Fig. 2 There is a bracket-shaped holder 5d adjacent to the pin 5c (see also Fig. 3 ) indicated, which is open at the bottom in order to attach the carrier shell 4 to the two inwardly directed pins 5c.
  • the burning lamp 1 is shown in strongly tilted positions, namely in the horizontal position ( Fig. 3 ) and tilted another 45°. From this it can be seen that the carrier shell 4 always remains in a horizontal position within the gimbal ring 5a.
  • the cardan ring 5a is preferred with the four pins 5b. 5c designed as a metal casting to achieve high stability and economical production.
  • Fig. 5 the burning lamp 1 is shown in its overhead extinguishing position.
  • the base 3 is cut here in its central plane along its main extension, with a vault-shaped shape or cavity 3c being visible. Since the flame at the transition from Fig. 4 to Fig. 5 is still burning, the base 3 or at least its cavity 3c is made of temperature-resistant material, namely metal or ceramic, as shown here in dotted lines.
  • two opposite slots 3b can also be seen, into which the outwardly projecting pins 5b are inserted when the components 2 and 3 are separated from one another.
  • the slots 3b are aligned parallel to the main extension of the lamp 1 and border on a (here upper) end face of the translucent housing part 2, so that the pins 5b are mounted therein to form one of the two degrees of freedom of the gimbal suspension 5.
  • a connecting sleeve 2a can be used, which creates an annular coupling zone (shown blacked here) between the components 2 and 3.
  • the connecting sleeve 2a can also have a thread, a bayonet lock or similar positive and/or frictional coupling elements, and can also be connected in one piece to the base 3.
  • the burning lamp 1 can be in the form of a Be designed as a floor lamp or hanging lamp. What is new, however, is that the lamp 1 is stable due to the inherent stability described above (cf. Fig. 2 ) can be placed on a rod with a simple top trough without the need for further fastenings.
  • Such a rod is preferably a ground spike, so that the burning lamp 1 can be set to a height of e.g. B. can be positioned 80 cm.
  • the carrier shell 4 there is z. B. oil or wax filled, and fragrances can also be provided.
