Definitions
- the present invention relates to a container for filler wires, in particular filler wires, which are filled with a hazardous material and / or a filling sensitive to air, oxygen, water and / or moisture, for safe transport and safe storage of these filler wires.
- Cored wires are used in particular for the injection of additives in the manufacture of pig iron, steel and other alloys.
- These filler wires essentially consist of an outer jacket or metal sheath, inside of which the additive or aggregate for the pig iron, steel or alloy is introduced. This form of administration enables the additive or aggregate to be introduced into the molten metal in a targeted, defined and safe manner.
- these cored wires are usually wound up to form spools or so-called coils, the weight of such a spool or such a coil depending on the use and depending on the filler can vary from 500 to 3,000 kg.
- the cored wires themselves usually have a diameter of 5 to 20 mm and a length of 1,000 to 20,000 m per coil.
- a number of the additives or aggregates are air, oxygen and / or water-sensitive substances, or are classified in the group of hazardous substances that have to be stored and transported under special conditions.
- the legislator has issued safety guidelines for the storage and transport of hazardous substances, which must be observed.
- German utility model DE 87 10 920 U1 a device for the transport, storage, holding and unwinding of wire coils described, which is formed from a cube-shaped or rectangular cage and consists of solid or hollow rods.
- US 2011/203948 A1 describes a transport container for welding wire and in particular a load securing system which is provided in a container, but independently thereof, in order to avoid undesired movements of the wire during transport.
- EP 1 295 813 A2 describes a container for welding wire which is provided with stabilizing elements in order to avoid deformation of the container.
- JP S57-193682 U describes a steel storage and transport container for welding wire, which has protective insulation inside.
- DE 37 22 974 A1 describes a wire storage device for receiving wire spools wound without center, which comprises a sheet metal housing and a wire spool.
- a radially displaceable pressure segment extending over the length of the wire spool is also provided, by means of which the wire spool can be tightened radially from the outside.
- the wire of the wire coil is intended for wire injection into molten metal and contains a tubular sheath made of the material of the melt, for example soft iron, which is filled with a powder or granular treatment agent, for example calcium.
- the spool weights are approximately in the range from 0.5 to 3 tons.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of providing a safe storage and transport container for dangerous goods comprising filler wires which is safe to handle and / or which complies with the guidelines for the transport of dangerous goods and / or which is optimal for the Cored wires can be integrated according to the manufacturing process.
- the storage and transport container can also be provided without filler wire, although in that case it does not form part of the invention.
- the storage and transport container according to the invention is suitable for receiving a filler wire wound into a reel.
- the storage and transport container according to the invention is particularly suitable for the storage and transport of a filler wire wound into a reel.
- the production of the cored wire takes place according to the usual processes and methods for the production of hollow wires and can be described as unproblematic with the current state of the art.
- the usually finely divided to powdery filler material is filled into the metallic jacket of the filler wire.
- the filler wire is then closed by folding or welding and then wound onto a reel to form a wire spool.
- the wire which is wound under tension, can be tied with signage tapes to maintain its shape.
- unalloyed steel with a thickness between 0.1 and 1 mm is used as the jacket material.
- the diameter of the wire is usually between 5 and 20 mm, often between 9 and 16 mm.
- a coil usually has a length of between 1,000 and 20,000 m of wire.
- suitable filling materials include calcium, calcium carbide, calcium silicides, calcium-iron mixtures, magnesium, magnesium alloys, calcium cyanamide and mixtures of the aforementioned substances, these filling materials in particular each being the main component.
- the storage and transport container of the invention comprises a filler wire, the filler wire comprising calcium carbide.
- a package consisting of at least a pallet, a cage and a plastic cover can be described as the state of the art.
- This type of packaging is disposable and is disposed of after the filler wire has been used. The individual components of the packaging must separated, sorted and divided into the appropriate fractions and sent for disposal.
- the storage and transport container according to the invention offers the advantage that there is no waste.
- the steps of separating, sorting and disposing of the different types of waste typically: plastic film, wooden or steel pallet, steel cage
- a workflow can thus be implemented when used as intended, which is faster, smoother and safer.
- the inventive arrangement of the cored wire wound into a coil in the container can also provide safe transport and a dosage form of the cored wires that is optimally adapted to the iron and steel production processes to be set for the coils.
- the safety during transport is achieved in particular by the fact that the coil enters into a force-locking and / or form-locking connection in the horizontal direction with the outer wall after the removal of attachment means such as ropes or round slings, fastening straps or signage straps.
- safety during transport is increased in particular by the fact that the coil is clamped in the vertical direction.
- the clamping pressure is created by the weight of the coil itself, the clamping pressure of the unloading device and the pretensioning of the bobbin while it is being reeled.
- the coil is upright, i.e. with its winding axis perpendicular to the base plate, the coil can be easily inserted into the container from above and the wire can be removed in the vertical direction when used as intended.
- the entire container including the coil can be turned on its side for horizontal removal. This is possible in particular because the coil is connected to all parts of the outer wall of the container in a non-positive manner, in particular through the clamping pressure of the coil. Slipping within the container during the tipping process is impossible.
- the present invention preferably comprises a reusable storage and transport container.
- the storage and transport container according to the invention for cored wire is made as a metal container and is furthermore preferably completely made of metal, in particular iron and / or steel and / or stainless steel, preferably made of steel.
- a container according to the invention thus provides an interior space that is completely enclosed on all sides by the base plate, outer wall and cover, especially during transport.
- the storage and transport container in particular the reusable storage and transport container, comprises an outer wall that can be designed in one piece (e.g. in the form of a tube) or that in turn has at least two, preferably three or preferably comprises four outer part walls, two of which are connected to one another in a form-fitting manner with an inner angle of 60 to 150 °, preferably of about 90 °.
- the outer wall itself comprises at least three, preferably four outer part walls with identical edge lengths, two of which are positively connected to one another with an inner angle of 60 to 150 °, preferably of about 90 °.
- the outer part walls can consist of separate parts which are connected to one another.
- the outer part walls consist of one part which, by shaping the wall material, forms at least two, preferably three, preferably four outer part walls, i.e. the outer part walls can be formed from one piece.
- the present invention very particularly preferably comprises a storage and transport container, in particular a reusable storage and transport container, for flux-cored wire, which, as a metal container, is made entirely of metal, in particular of iron and / or steel and / or stainless steel, preferably of steel, and which also preferably has the shape of a parallelepiped, cube or cylinder.
- a storage and transport container preferably has at least one stacking corner, in particular at least two stacking corners, particularly preferably at least three stacking corners and very particularly for a space-saving arrangement of the containers during storage and / or during transport of the same preferably at least four stacking corners.
- stacking corners are designed in such a way that the internal dimensions of the stacking corners are greater than the external dimensions of the bottom area.
- the containers can therefore be stacked to save space during transport and storage. It is furthermore preferably provided that the footprint for the container to be stacked is lower at the stacking corners than the total height of the container.
- the outer wall of the storage and transport container is materially or positively connected to the base plate and / or the outer wall has an angle of 85 to 95 °, in particular 89 to 91 °, with the base plate , very particularly preferably of about 90 ° C, and / or the outer wall is connected to the base plate substantially at right angles.
- the container on the one hand provides a spacious volume for receiving the coil, and on the other hand provides reliable leakage protection against any ingredients that may leak out of the filler wires due to damage to the wires themselves.
- the largest possible contact surface for a force-fitting and / or form-fitting connection of the coil to the outer wall can thus be made possible.
- a storage and transport container which comprises a filler wire wound into a coil, which in turn comprises a hazardous material and / or a filling that is sensitive to oxygen, water and / or moisture.
- the coil is a coreless coil and / or that the coil consists of the filler wire.
- the coil can be unwound from the inside to the outside. In this way, the filler wire can be safely removed without the coil losing its stability, and the outer wall of the container also prevents the coil from falling over or tipping over.
- the coil is arranged in the container in such a way that the winding axis of the coil is perpendicular to the base plate of the container and preferably in such a way that the coil is frictionally engaged and / or is positively connected to the outer wall. This ensures that the shape of the filler wire coil remains stable when it is removed and does not collapse.
- the outside diameter of the coil remains in a defined size within the container.
- the coil is arranged in the container in such a way that the winding axis of the coil is perpendicular to the bottom plate of the container, and according to a further preferred embodiment such that the coil is non-positively and / or positively designed with the one-piece (e.g. in the form of a tube) Outer wall or with at least two, in particular at least three and very particularly preferably four outer partial walls of the outer wall, which in turn comprises at least two, in particular at least three and very particularly preferably four outer partial walls.
- the one-piece e.g. in the form of a tube
- the storage and transport container comprises a base plate, the area of which is larger than the area enclosed by the outer wall. It can also be provided that the base plate at least partially projects beyond the outer wall. In particular, the base plate projects beyond the outer wall on all sides.
- the base plate is preferably at least 1 cm, preferably at least 2 cm, preferably at least 3 cm, preferably at least 4 cm and further preferably up to 20 cm, further preferably up to 15 cm, further preferably up to 10 cm larger in length and / or in width than the area enclosed by the outer wall.
- the available base area of the interior space is smaller than the available base area of the base plate. This provides comprehensive anti-tipping protection for the container and thus enables an extremely high level of security for the storage and transport of the filler wire.
- a storage and transport container can preferably also comprise a base plate, the first side of which forms the interior space with the outer wall and the cover, and a substructure is arranged on the second side.
- this substructure can comprise at least one drive-in pocket, in particular at least two drive-in pockets, and very particularly preferably at least four drive-in pockets, for a pallet truck, forklift truck or other load handling means (with two forks).
- the drive-in pockets can be continuous, so that the container can be driven under on four sides with common forklifts or pallet trucks.

- the lid locks can also be in the form of one-piece or multi-part tension locks, in particular made of metal or plastic, and furthermore preferably be connected to the outer wall of the container in a screwed or welded design.
- the lid or the two-part lid can also be attached by means of screws like a dome lid of liquid containers.
- the two-part design of the lid is particularly advantageous since the height of the container is usually less than its side length.
- the height of the container is preferably at least 10%, preferably at least 20%, preferably at least 30% and further preferably up to 50%, further preferably up to 40% less than the side length of the container. Due to the two-part design of the cover, it can be opened completely without touching the surrounding floor when it is open.
- the two-part design of the cover also has the advantage that each individual part of the cover has a weight when using conventional metallic construction materials that can be manipulated by one person alone.
- the height of the container is also preferably selected so that a person can reach the center of the container with his hands when the lid is open without the aid of other aids such as ladders, steps or special tools.

- the opening of the removal device can be designed in such a way that the area enclosed by the removal device essentially corresponds to the shape of a circle, an ellipse or an elongated hole, the shape of the opening being at least one point from the ideal shape of a circle, an ellipse or a Slotted hole deviates in the form of a bulge. This bulge protrudes beyond the outside diameter of the coil.
- the outer end of the filler wire of a first container can be connected to the inner end of a second coil of a second container and both the filler wire of the first container and the filler wire of a second container can be unwound smoothly, without delay and loss of time will.

- FIG. 1 a container (10) for the safe storage and safe transport of a cored wire wound into a coil (not shown here) is shown.
- the container (10) is square in the base area with outer side lengths of approx. 1430 mm and has a height of approx. 1150 mm.
- the inner volume is approx. 1.6m 3 .
- the inside dimensions are approx. LxWxH 1260x1260x940 mm.
- the dimensions of the container are designed for the optimal use of the loading space of a standard truck trailer while at the same time optimizing the wire spool size in relation to the application of the winding in molten metal. There is space for nine containers on a trailer in one layer.
- the wire coils positioned inside the container have a size that allows two coils to handle a distribution sequence of steel melts of average size.
- the container (10) is designed in such a way that it meets the requirements for the international transport of solid and pasty dangerous goods of packaging groups I, II and III according to the ordinances and guidelines ADR / RID / IMDG-Code. It is a solid and tight sheet steel construction with a sheet thickness of 3 mm, with the exception of the cover, which has a sheet thickness of 2.5 mm. To protect the sheet metal from corrosion, the container can be painted and / or hot-dip galvanized.
- the bottom area of the container consists of a container bottom plate (12) and a substructure or substructure (11) with drive-in pockets (13). Due to the two continuous entry pockets (13) in the floor area, the container can be driven under on four sides with common forklifts or pallet trucks.
- the drive-in pockets (13) are equipped on the underside with an anti-tip device (14) in the form of sheet metal plates.
- the anti-tipper (14) represents a further support when lifting and transporting via a fork, such as that of a forklift truck.
- the functionality of the floor area of the container is thus comparable to that of a pallet.
- the floor area projects beyond the outer wall (15) of the container (10).
- profiles (23) are arranged in the floor, which allow the removal of slings, such as ropes or round slings, after the wire spool has been inserted.
- the removal of tapes that are used to tie wire spools, such as signage tapes, is also made easier.
- the bottom area of the container is inextricably linked to the outer wall (15) of the container.
- the lid (16) is designed in two parts due to the fact that the height of the container is smaller than its side lengths. This allows the cover (16) to be opened completely without touching the surrounding floor when it is open.
- the opening of the cover (16) can be carried out manually by one person without the aid of aids or tools due to the division into two parts and the adapted sheet metal thickness and the associated low weight.
- the lid (16) rises above the stacking corners (18) with the help of the built-in hinges (17).
- the lid can be locked at 90 ° and 270 °.
- the possibility of opening the cover (16) completely means that the wire spool can be inserted into the container (10) without any problems.
- the lid (16) does not constitute a hindrance when the filler wire is used by pulling the wire directly out of the container.
- a part is first closed.
- the second part of the lid (16) then engages in the first.
- Each of the two cover parts is equipped with two handles (19).
- the circumferential cover seal (not shown), which is enclosed in a groove, and the 10 cover closures (20) ensure a tight closure of the cover (16).
- a liquid-tight closure of the removal opening is particularly important for the transport and storage of dangerous goods which develop flammable gases in contact with water.
- the container (10) On the top of the container (10) there are four stacking corners (18) which make it possible to place one or more further containers (10) on top of one another.
- the inside dimension of the stacking corners (18) is larger than the outside dimension of the bottom area.
- the containers (10) can therefore be stacked to save space during transport and storage.
- the storage areas (21) for the container to be stacked at the stacking corners (18) are lower than the total height of the container. This means that the height of two stacked containers is less than the added height of two individual containers, and that the container can be precisely positioned when stacking and is secured against slipping horizontally.
- Eyelets (22) are incorporated into the stacking corners, so that the container can also be manipulated with other lifting tools such as a crane.
- gusset plates (24) are installed in each of the four corners, which allow the installation of elements for fastening a removal device (cf. Figure 3 ).
- the gusset plates (24) optimize the flow of forces in the event of a load and promote the stability of the built-in element.
- a rack pin (25) is used as a machine component. Due to the toothing (26), the removal device can be adjusted in terms of height.
- the removal device (cf. Figure 4 ) is located in the upper area of the container and is connected to the container in all four corners via tension locks (27).
- the brackets of the tension locks (28) are dimensioned to match the rack journals. In order to achieve sufficient tensile force, the clamps of the tension locks can be adjusted.
- the tension locks are screwed to the locking plates (29) of the removal device.
- the wing-like shape of the locking plates increases the rigidity of both the removal device and the entire container.
- the removal device holds the wire spool axially in position during transport and in particular while the wire is being unwound from the spool.
- the wire is generally withdrawn from the inside of the reel through an opening in the removal device.
- the central opening (30) of the removal device can be oval (round or ellipsoidal) or, as in the case described, in the form of an elongated hole.
- the removal device is used to guide the wire while it is being unwound. The importance of wire guidance increases with the size of the wire spool.
- the inside (31) of the central opening has a rounded shape.
- the central opening (30) consists of a metallic tube.
- the tubular shape has a higher torsional stiffness compared to solid material and has a lower dead weight.
- the use of aluminum instead of steel as the construction material of the removal device means that the removal device can be installed and removed without the aid of lifting tools. With a total weight of the removal device of less than 25 kg, it is even possible for one person to install and remove it.
- the removal device can have one or more bulges which protrude beyond the outer radius of the wire spool. This enables the outer end of one wire spool to be connected to the inner end of another wire spool. The unwinding of the wire can thus be continued without interruption when a wire spool is used up. Due to the bulge, the guidance of the wire is not impaired during unwinding.
- the wire, which is wound under tension, can be tied with signage tapes to maintain its shape.
- unalloyed steel with a thickness between 0.1 and 1 mm is used as the jacket material.
- the diameter of the wire is usually between 5 and 20 mm, often between 9 and 16 mm.
- a coil usually has a length of between 1,000 and 20,000 m of wire.
- a package consisting of at least a pallet, a cage and a plastic cover can be described as the state of the art.
- This type of packaging is disposable and is disposed of after the filler wire has been used. The individual components of the packaging must be separated, sorted and divided into the appropriate fractions and sent for disposal. With the present invention, these work steps are omitted since the container already contains all the functionalities of the usual packaging and is reused. In addition, the container provides a safe enclosure for dangerous goods.
- the wire spool After winding the filler wire (34) into a wire spool (32) and tying it with signage tapes (33), the wire spool is under radial tension.
- the wire spool is inserted into the container with the sign tape (33) ( Figure 5 , left partial image).
- the signage tapes (33) are then opened and removed.
- the wire spool relieves tension when the signatory tapes (33) are removed, in that at least the outer diameter of the spool increases. This increase in diameter stops when the wire spool comes into contact with the outer walls (2) of the container ( Figure 5 , right partial image).
- the wire coil then presses on the outer walls.
- the outer walls of the container thus serve as radial support walls for the wire spool and hold it in position. aside from that the frictional forces between the wire spool and the outer wall prevent the spool from rotating inside the container while the filler wire is being withdrawn.
