Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for labeling individual products with a feed device for transporting the respective product in a transport direction, with a label dispensing device for dispensing a label that can be detached from a strip of material from a dispensing point in a dispensing direction and with a label transfer device with a movable label transport means for transferring of the donated label from a pick-up area, where the donated label is taken over by the label transport means, to a delivery point where the label is applied to the respective product, the label transport means having a surface which is brought into contact with the label.
  • the invention further relates to a method for labeling individual products, in which a label is donated from a dispensing point of a label dispensing device in a dispensing direction, in which the donated label is transferred from the label dispensing device to a label transfer direction, in which the label is transferred from a transfer area of the label transfer direction is transported to a delivery point of the label transfer device and in which the label is transferred from the delivery point to the product to be labeled.
  • Such a device according to the preamble of claim 1 is from JP 2009 234595 A known.
  • Another device and a corresponding method are known, for example, from JP 2004 352309 A .
  • a strip of material with labels is unwound as roll goods, with the labels being separated from the remaining strip of material by a cutting device and thus separated.
  • the labels are each a section of a printable or printed strip of material that has been separated from the remaining strip of material by separating it.
  • the individual labels are transported by means of a label transfer device, which has a transport or endless belt as the label transport means, from the transfer area in which the respective label is taken over by the label transport means to the delivery point, where the respective label is placed on the label to be labeled Product is applied.
  • a label transfer device which has a transport or endless belt as the label transport means, from the transfer area in which the respective label is taken over by the label transport means to the delivery point, where the respective label is placed on the label to be labeled Product is applied.
  • the front end of the strip of material In order to be able to separate a label or said section from the remaining strip of material, the front end of the strip of material, which will later form the label, must be pressed against the conveyor belt of the label transfer device and the conveyor belt must be stopped.
  • the strip of material is pressed onto the conveyor belt using a clamping roller, with which the front end of the material strip is clamped between the conveyor belt and the clamping roller.
  • the then taut strip of material is then cut at a defined point, creating a label.
  • the separated label is still stuck with its front end between the clamping roller and the conveyor belt.
  • the conveyor belt is then set in motion and the label is conveyed to the delivery point.
  • the labels are adhesive labels, with the adhesive side facing away from the label transfer device during transport.
  • a suction flow is generated by means of a blower (here in the form of a fan), which sucks the label onto the surface of the conveyor belt.
  • the device for labeling individual products known from the prior art has a relatively complex structure.
  • a fan is necessary to generate a suction flow that holds the label on the label conveyor belt during transport.
  • a clamping roller is required from the remaining strip of material, which permanently presses against the surface of the conveyor belt of the label transfer device; Not only is an additional component in the form of the clamping roller necessary for separation, but due to the constant pressure of this clamping roller on the conveyor belt, the conveyor belt is also exposed to increased wear in the long term.
  • the previously derived and demonstrated task is achieved according to a first teaching of the present invention in a device for labeling individual products according to claim 1.
  • a label alignment device makes it possible, as will be explained below, to convey adhesive labels in a particularly precise arrangement with their adhesive side facing the surface of the label transport means from the transfer area to the delivery point.
  • the label Because the adhesive surface comes into contact with the surface of the label transport means, the label adheres independently and no additional blower is required, as in the prior art, to suck the label onto the label transport means using suction force. Since the labels can be delivered as rolls, they are inevitably curved differently (labels in the outer area of the rolls are less curved than labels in the inner area of the rolls). Since the adhesive side of roll goods often faces inwards, the different degrees of curvature have the disadvantage that the front end of the dispensed labels does not always come into contact with the surface of the label transport means in the same place. The greater the difference in the degree of curvature of the labels, the greater the distance between the points at which the respective label comes into contact with the surface of the label transport means.
  • the front end of the respective label immediately adheres to the label transport means as soon as it comes into contact with it and is then conveyed further to the product in this position.
  • the presence of the special label alignment device ensures that the labels do not come into contact with the surface of the label transport means in a random position, which depends, among other things, on the respective degree of curvature of the label, but rather in a defined transfer area. This takeover area is in Compared to the area in which, according to the prior art, the labels would come into contact with the surface of the label transport means, it is significantly smaller.
  • the transfer area is, for example, only 1 to 6 mm, preferably 1 to 4 mm, particularly preferably 1 to 3 mm, based on the direction from the transfer area to the delivery point of the label transfer device.
  • This very small, defined area in which the front ends of the labels come into contact with the surface of the label transport means also ensures precise and non-random positioning of the label on the product.
  • the device according to the invention and especially the presence of the previously defined label alignment device makes it possible to label individual products using simple means and with a high level of precision.
  • the label alignment device ensures that each label, regardless of its degree of curvature and possibly even regardless of the direction in which the label is curved, first comes into contact with the lateral surface of the roll, with the roll then the front end of the respective label always redirects to the defined transfer area.
  • This form of alignment and deflection of the individual labels can be additionally supported by providing a sliding plate in the gap between the output point of the label dispensing device and the roller of the label aligning device.
  • the respective label then, starting from the label dispensing device or the dispensing point, first comes into contact with the sliding plate, which will be described in more detail below, and the sliding plate guides the front end of the label precisely to the roll and in particular to a defined area of the lateral surface of the roll.
  • a nozzle in particular a blowing and/or suction nozzle, which will also be described in more detail below, can also be provided, which also connects the front end of the label to the roll and in particular to a defined area of the lateral surface of the roller.
  • the roller and, if applicable, the sliding plate and/or the nozzle are positioned in such a way that the dispensed label always first comes into contact with the roller before it comes into contact with the label transport means.
  • the label alignment device is designed in such a way or that the roller and possibly the sliding plate and/or the nozzle are arranged in such a way that the transfer area in which the front end of the label comes into contact with the surface of the label transport means is minimized is, as stated above, for example to a length of 1 to 6 mm, preferably 1 to 4 mm, particularly preferably 1 to 3 mm. In this way, the accuracy with which the leading end of the label comes into contact with the surface of the label transport means is further increased.
  • the role of the label aligning device also has the additional advantage that a label is precisely aligned before it comes into contact with the surface of the label transport means by first having its front end come into contact with the lateral surface of the roll. In this way it is ensured that the front end of the label then comes into contact with the surface of the label transport means over its entire width, if possible at the same time. If the label were to tilt slightly when dispensing, it would otherwise not come into contact with the label transport means with its entire front edge, but only with a section of it or with a corner of the front area of the label and would then be carried along at an angle. This would in turn lead to an oblique and therefore imprecise application on the product.
  • a label that can be detached from a strip of material preferably means a label that has its adhesive surface detachable on a carrier strip, which in this case forms the strip of material, and made of paper or plastic, is appropriate.
  • the label dispensing device has a dispensing edge (deflection edge) on which the carrier strip is strongly deflected, for example by 90° or more, whereby the label is automatically detached from the carrier strip.
  • the dispensing edge forms or defines the dispensing point of the label dispensing device, i.e. the point at which the label is dispensed or dispensed in the dispensing direction.
  • a label that can be detached from a strip of material is also understood to mean the case in which the label is produced, as in the prior art described at the beginning, by separating a partial section from a printable strip of material.
  • the label transfer device has an endless belt as a label transport means, which transports the label from the transfer area to the delivery point through its movement, in particular rotating movement, as already mentioned.
  • the endless belt passes through the pick-up area and the delivery point, so that the respective label can be transported to the delivery point after it has been taken over by the label transport means in the take-over area (first with its front end, then completely).
  • the label transfer device is in particular a label acceleration belt, that is to say the label transport means or conveyor belt is accelerated after the label has been taken over from it in the transfer area and is braked again after the label has been transferred to the product.
  • the feed device on which the products to be labeled are transported usually runs at a higher feed speed than the speed at which the label is dispensed and/or printed.
  • the label can then be accelerated during transport from the dispensing device to the product and then has the same speed directly on the product as the product itself.
  • the feed device therefore does not have to be used to transfer the label to the product be stopped or slowed down or even conveyed at a lower speed from the start.
  • the vertical projection of the lateral surface of the roll onto the surface of the label transport means, in particular onto the surface of the endless belt cuts or encloses the transfer area in which the donated label is taken over by the label transport means or endless belt.
  • the label is first brought into contact with its front edge or its front end with the roll and the roll then directs the front end of the label into said takeover area immediately adjacent to the roll.
  • the roller is in contact with the surface of the label transport means, which has the advantage that the roller automatically always has a peripheral speed that is synchronous (the same) with the speed of the label transport means. In this case, the role does not have to be self-propelled.
  • the roller is spaced from the surface of the label transport means by 0.5 to 3 mm, preferably 0.5 to 2 mm, particularly preferably 0.5 to 1 mm.
  • the roller is not a clamping roller and therefore does not exert constant pressure on the label transport means or endless belt, which would increase wear on the label transport means in the long term.
  • the shortest distance between the lateral surface (the roll) and/or surface (of the label transport means) and the dispensing point (the label dispensing device) is 10 to 50 mm, preferably 20 to 40 mm, particularly preferably 25 to 35 mm.
  • Such a relatively large distance or gap has the advantage that in the event that the label dispensing device has a printing unit, the printing speed and the speed of the label transport means or conveyor belt can be synchronized. During the period in which the label is printed at the speed of the printing unit and crosses the gap, the speed of the label transport means or conveyor belt can first be accelerated to transport and apply the previous label and then slowed down again to the printing speed.
  • the roller is driven. In principle, this can also be free-rolling.
  • the imaginary straight line (starting from the dispensing point and running in the dispensing direction) runs in an area which is between a first plane, in which the dispensing point and the roller axis extend, and a second level lies in which the dispensing point extends and which touches the lateral surface tangentially on the side of the roll facing the label transport means.
  • the label alignment device has a sliding plate which is arranged between the dispensing point and the roll and extends parallel or at an acute angle to the dispensing direction.
  • the sliding plate is in particular arranged in such a way that the imaginary straight line (starting from the dispensing point and running in the dispensing direction) runs parallel to the surface of the sliding plate or intersects the surface of the sliding plate. This always ensures that the label that is dispensed at the issuing point first hits the sliding plate and There the front end of the label is guided to the roll in a defined manner.
  • the projection of the sliding plate in a direction parallel to the dispensing direction intersects the lateral surface, in particular in the area between the first level and the second level.
  • the sliding plate is preferably provided with a non-stick coating at least on the side that comes into contact with the label. This means that the front edge of the label, which can also contain adhesive on an adhesive label, cannot stick to the sliding plate.
  • the label alignment device has a nozzle (blow or air nozzle), the main radiation direction of which points towards the roller and/or the sliding plate.
  • a nozzle blow or air nozzle
  • one or more suction nozzles can also be provided, which guide the respective label in the direction of the roll and/or suck it onto the sliding plate.
  • the front end of the dispensed label can also be guided in a simple manner, so that it is ensured that the label first comes into contact with the roll and only then with the surface of the label transport means or endless belt.
  • the label dispensing device has a printing unit for printing the label that can be detached from the strip of material.
  • a printing unit for printing the label that can be detached from the strip of material.
  • previously printed labels are arranged in the label dispensing device, for example in the form of roll goods, and dispensed by the label dispensing device.
  • a printing unit is not absolutely necessary as part of the label dispensing device.
  • the device according to the invention is designed in such a way that the printing speed of the labels (feed speed of the labels while they are being printed) or the transport speed of the labels (feed speed of the labels when they are not being printed) at the output point of the label dispensing device is at least 10 mm/s, preferably at least 50 mm/s, particularly preferably at least 100 mm/s.
  • the printing or transport speed of the labels is in a range from 10 to 1500 mm/s, preferably in a range from 50 to 400 mm/s, particularly preferably in a range from 100 to 200 mm/s.

  • the present invention particularly preferably serves to use adhesive labels as labels, in which case the adhesive side of the adhesive label is then particularly preferably to be brought into contact with the surface of the label transport means.
  • both the device according to the invention and the method according to the invention can also be used for adhesive-free labels, which, for example, are only provided with an adhesive surface later or are applied to an adhesive surface on the product.
  • the label, if it is an adhesive label is brought into contact with the label transport means not with the adhesive side, but with the side facing away from it.
  • the label does not have an adhesive surface that is brought into contact with the label transport means, it is then necessary for the label to be sucked or pressed onto the surface of the label transport means by means of a blower, in particular a fan or a nozzle while the label is transported from the transfer area to the delivery point.
