Description
- Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von imprägnierten Papieren innerhalb oder außerhalb der Papiermaschine, nach welchem den Papieren ein hoher Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle verliehen wird.
- Bekannt sind verschiedene Verfahren, welche geeignet sind, Papieren einen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle zu verleihen. Dabei handelt es sich um Verfahren, die sowohl innerhalb der Papiermaschine als auch außerhalb der Papiermaschine Anwendung finden. Der Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle kann bei den bekannten Verfahren unterschiedliche qualitative Abstufungen erreichen, welche nach allgemein anerkannten und standardisierten Prüfverfahren prüfbar sind.
- Bekannt ist ein Verfahren, nach welchem eine Papierbahn, die aus Zellstofffasern besteht, durch eine heiße, wässerige Zinkchloridlösung oder durch ein Schwefelsäurebad geführt wird und dabei durch partielle Hydrolyse der Zellstoffe eine hohe Fettdichte erzielt wird. Ein nach diesem Verfahren mit einem hohen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle ausgerüstetes Papier ist nicht mehr recycelbar.
- Bekannt sind weiterhin Verfahren, bei denen zur Erzeugung eines hohen Durchdringungswiderstandes gegen Fette und Öle Chromsalze der Fettsäuren verwendet werden. Nach diesen Verfahren behandelte Papiere enthalten Chrom als Schwermetall und gelten somit als gesundheitsschädlich, sofern damit Nahrungsmittel verpackt werden.
- Bekannt sind auch Verfahren, nach welchen Papiere innerhalb oder außerhalb der Papiermaschine mit Imprägniermedien imprägniert werden, die zur Erzeugung des gewollten Durchdringungswiderstandes gegen Fette und Öle organische Fluorverbindungen verwenden. Diese organischen Fluorverbindungen werden dabei nur mit Wasser verdünnt, oder in Kombination mit Lösungen von Bindemitteln und/oder Dispersionen von synthetischen Polymeren in das Papier eingebracht. Der mit den organischen Fluorverbindungen erreichbare Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle ist hoch, gemessen nach allgemein anerkannten und standardisierten Prüfverfahren, jedoch migrieren die organischen Fluorverbindungen in das Verpackungsgut.
- Handelt es sich bei diesem Verpackungsgut um ein Nahrungsmittel oder ein Tierfutter, gelangen diese organischen Fluorverbindungen in die Nahrungskette. Da sie jedoch weder vom menschlichen oder vom tierischen Stoffwechsel abgebaut werden, verbleiben sie im Körper. Dabei stehen sie in Verdacht, menschliches und tierisches biologisches Erbgut zu schädigen. Außerdem werden diese Papiere wegen ihrer Verwendung zur Verpackung von trockenen oder feuchten, fettenden Nahrungsmitteln regelmäßig nassfest ausgerüstet und hierfür werden Epichlorhydrinharze verwendet, welche die gesundheitsschädlichen Substanzen Monochlorpropandiol (MCPD) und Dichlorpropanol (DCP) enthalten.
- Bekannt sind weiterhin Verfahren, nach denen die Papierbahn innerhalb oder außerhalb der Papiermaschine mit Lösungen von nativen und/oder synthetischen Polymeren, Paraffinen und Wachsen imprägniert werden. Dabei handelt es sich um Lösungen von Stärken und Stärkederivaten und/oder Galaktomannanen und/oder Polyvinylalkoholen und/oder Carboxymethylcellulosen und/oder Lösungen von anderen synthetischen Polymeren außer Polyvinylalkoholen, beispielsweise anionischen Polyacrylamiden.
- Ein nach einem solchen Verfahren hergestelltes Papier verfügt nur über eine niedrige Fettdichte, geprüft nach allgemein anerkannten und standardisierten Prüfverfahren.
- Bekannt sind ebenfalls noch Verfahren, nach denen das Papier innerhalb oder außerhalb der Papiermaschine mit wässrigen Dispersionen von Paraffinen und/oder Wachsen imprägniert wird und damit die Fettdichte erzeugt wird. Die so behandelten Papiere sind nicht mehr recycelbar, sofern so große Mengen Verwendung finden, dass eine Fett- und Ölbarriere erreicht wird.
- Bekannt sind weiterhin Verfahren, nach denen das Papier innerhalb oder außerhalb der Papiermaschine in der Oberfläche versiegelt wird. Hier wird der hohe Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle auf dem Wege der zwingend notwendigen geschlossenen Filmbildung erzielt. Als Mittel hierzu werden Polymerdispersionen und/oder Wachsdispersionen und/oder Paraffindispersionen verwendet. Papiere die nach diesen Verfahren hergestellt werden, sind nicht mehr recycelbar. Wird eine Kombination aus Polyolefindispersionen und Wachsdispersionen bzw. Paraffindispersionen verwendet, leidet mit zunehmendem Anteil der Wachs- bzw. Paraffindispersionen auch die Bedruckbarkeit des Papiers.
- Bekannt sind weiterhin Verfahren, nach welchen mit Schmelzen von Polymeren und/oder Wachsen und/oder Hotmelts und/oder Paraffinen Papieren auf dem Weg der Extrusionsbeschichtung hohe Durchdringungswiderstände gegen Fette und Öle verliehen werden.
- Diese Extrusionsbeschichtung ist nur außerhalb der Papiermaschine möglich. Nach diesen Verfahren hergestellte Papiere sind nicht mehr recycelbar.
- Bekannt sind außerdem Verfahren, nach denen für die Erzeugung des Durchdringungswiderstandes gegen Fette und Öle hydrierte Fettsäuren verwendet werden. Die Patentschrift
DE 41 33 716 Cl beschreibt ein solches Verfahren. Demnach erfolgt die Beschichtung aus der Schmelze der hydrierten Fettsäure heraus auf einer separaten Beschichtungsanlage außerhalb der Papiermaschine. Auf diese Weise hergestellte Papiere sind nicht mehr bedruckbar. - Bekannt sind schließlich noch Verfahren, Papiere durch eine besonders hohe Ausmahlung ihrer Faserstoffe auf dem Wege der mechanischen Pergamentierung eine kurzzeitig wirksame Barriere gegen Fette und Öle zu verleihen. Die
EP 1170418 A1 beschreibt eine Beschichtung für fettbeständiges Papier mit einer speziellen hydrophob modifizierten Stärke. -
EP 0 697 622 A1 undEP 0 545 043 A1 offenbaren die Beschichtung von Papieren mit einem hydrophobierenden Leimungsmittel wie Polyolfinen und Polyvinylalkoholen als wasserlöslichem Harz. Diese Papiere sind als fotographische Schichtträger geeignet; Informationen über deren Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Öle oder Fette sind diesen Publikationen nicht zu entnehmen. Als wasserlöslicher Bestandteil des Leimungsmittels ist lediglich Polyvinylalkohol offenbart. - Die Erfindung hat sich zum Ziel gestellt, einem Papier auf dem Wege einer neuartigen Gestaltung der chemischen Technologie einen hohen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle zu verleihen, es dabei recycelbar bleibt, bedruckbar bleibt und keine gesundheitsschädlichen Substanzen, wie Schwermetalle, Fluorcarbonverbindungen, Monochlorpropandiol, Dichlorpropanol oder Formaldehyd rezepturbedingt enthält.
- Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Papier bereitzustellen, welches über einen hohen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle verfügt, das sich gut recyceln lässt gut bedruckbar und frei von den oben erwähnten schädlichen Stoffen ist, sowie ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines solchen Papiers anzugeben.
- Erfindungsgemäß wird die Aufgabe durch ein Papier nach Anspruch 1 und ein Verfahren nach Anspruch 11 gelöst.
- Der Mahlgrad wird als Schopper-Riegler-Zahl (°SR) nach ISO 5267-1 bestimmt. Erfindungsgemäß wird ein Wert von 65 - 90 °SR, insbesondere von 78 - 82 °SR bevorzugt. Es ist auch möglich, geringwertige Papiere (Karton) mit einem Mahlgrad von 15 - 65 °SR, insbesondere 30 bis 65 °SR einzusetzen.
- Zur Masseleimung können die in der Papierindustrie üblichen Leimsysteme wie Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (ASA), Alkyl-Keten-Dimere (AKD) oder Harzleime (Baumharz) verwendet werden.
- Das zur Leimung verwendete Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (ASA) ist beispielsweise ein Reaktionsprodukt aus Maleinsäureanhydrid und α-Olefinen mit 16 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen. Erfindungsgemäß wird es bevorzugt in einer Menge von 0,05 bis 0,3 Masse-%, vorzugsweise 0,1 Masse-%, bezogen auf das trockene Papier, eingesetzt. Dazu wird es mit Hilfe eines Schutzkolloids, beispielsweise kationische Stärke, emulgiert. Eine Darstellung dieser sog. ASA-Leimung mit weiteren Zitaten gibt beispielsweise T. Gliese, Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (ASA) als Leimungsmittel, Das Papier 2003, T141-T145.
- Die Behandlung mit der wässrigen Imprägnierflotte kann sowohl in der Papiermaschine als auch außerhalb derselben erfolgt sein. Neben dem Bindemittelsystem kann die Flotte noch weitere Hilfsstoffe wie Vernetzer, Komplexbildner usw. enthalten.
- Das Bindemittelsystem besteht aus wasserlöslichen Bindemitteln und ggf. wasserunlöslichen Polymeren. Wasserunlösliche Polymere sind bevorzugt Polyacrylnitrile, Polyacrylate, Polyvinylacetate und Polystyrol-Polyacrylat-Copolymerisate. Ihr Anteil sollte nicht so groß sein, daß das Papier nicht mehr recycelbar ist und beträgt erfindungsgemäß höchstens 20 Masse-%.
- Wasserlösliche Bindemittel sind erfindungsgemäß bevorzugt carboxylgruppenhaltige Polyvinylalkohole (Vinylalkohol-Carbonsäure-Copolymerisate), Ethylen-Vinyl-alkohol-Copolymerisate, acetalisierte Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymerisate, acetalisierte Polyvinylalkohole, Polyvinylbutyrale, Silanolgruppen-haltige, kationisch modifizierte Polyvinylalkohole, acetalisierte Silanolgruppen-haltige, acetalisierte kationisch modifizierte Polyvinylalkohole, acetalisierte carboxylgruppenhaltige Polyvinylalkohole, Gelatine, Galaktomannane, Alginate, Carboxymethylcellulose sowie Mischungen aus mehreren aus diesen Stoffklassen ausgewählten Bindemitteln.
- Zur Acetalisierung der optional Silanolgruppen-haltigen, carboxylgruppenhaltige Polyvinylalkohole oder kationisch modifizierten Polyvinylalkohole und der Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymerisate können C1-C10-Alkanale oder substituierte oder unsubstituierte aromatische Aldehyde, jeweils einzeln oder als Gemisch eingesetzt werden. Besonders geeignet sind Formaldehyd, Acetaldehyd, Propionaldehyd, Benzaldhyd und/oder Benzaldhydsulfonsäure als Alkalisalz (Natriumsalz).
- Besonders bevorzugt umfaßt das Bindemittelsystem Polyvinylalkohol und Gelatine. Dabei wird solche Gelatine bevorzugt, deren wäßrige Lösung mit 0,1 Masse-% bei 24 °C eine Oberflächenspannung von weniger als 42 mN/m hat. Vorteilhaft ist eine Kombination dieser Komponenten mit carboxylgruppenhaltigen Polyvinyl-alkohol und/oder mindestens eine Verbindung der Gruppe Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymer, acetalisiertes Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymerisat, acetalisierter Polyvinylalkohol, acetalisierte Silanolgruppen-haltige, acetalisierte kationisch modifizierte Polyvinylalkohole und/oder Polyvinylbutyral.
- Ebenfalls bevorzugt ist der Polyvinylalkoholanteil des Bindemittelsystems durch ein Gemisch aus mindestens zwei verschiedenen Polyvinylalkoholen realisiert, von denen mindestens einer eine Viskosität von weniger, der andere bzw. die anderen eine von mehr als 35 mPa.s aufweist. Unter Viskosität von Polyvinylalkohol wird in dieser Anmeldung die nach DIN 53015 an einer wässrigen Lösung mit 4 Masse-% bei 20 °C gemessene Viskosität verstanden.
- Bevorzugt enthält die Imprägnierflotte zur Herstellung des erfindungsgemäßen Papierbogens ein Vernetzungsrnittel, besonders bevorzugt Glyoxal in einer Konzentration von 2 bis 15 Masseprozent, bezogen auf die Gesamtmenge von Bindemittel und Vernetzer.
- Die Konzentration der Imprägnierflotte liegt vorteilhaft zwischen 2 und 15, bevorzugt zwischen 5 und 7,5 Masseprozent Trockensubstanz.
- Das Auftragsgewicht der Imprägnierflotte, berechnet als Trockensubstanz, liegt vorteilhaft zwischen 0,3 und 1,5 g/m2 je Seite.
- Das Verfahren zur Herstellung des erfindungsgemäßen Papierbogens umfasst die Herstellung eines Rohpapiers aus Zellstoff, Holzstoff oder recycliertem Altpapier mit den vorgenannten Mahlgraden, die Leimung dieses Papiers in der Masse, insbesondere mit Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (ASA), und die Imprägnierung des geleimten Rohpapiers mit einer Imprägnierflotte, die ein Bindemittelsystem aus 80 bis 100 Masseteilen wasserlöslichen Bindemitteln und 20 bis 0 Masseteilen wasserunlöslicher Polymere in Dispersion enthält.
- Die Imprägnierung kann sowohl in der Papiermaschine als auch außerhalb derselben erfolgen. Übliche Vorrichtungen, z. B. Leimpressen, Filmpressen etc. können hierzu verwendet werden. Vorzugsweise wird das Rohpapier vor der Imprägnierung auf einen Trockengehalt von 95 bis 99 % getrocknet. Nach der Imprägnierung schließt sich ebenfalls ein Trocknungsvorgang auf die gewünschte Endfeuchte an.
- Neun bevorzugte Ausführungsformen der erfindungsgemäßen Imprägnierflotte sind in Tabelle 1 aufgeführt. Die dafür brauchbaren wasserlöslichen Bindemittel sind wie folgt charakterisiert:
- Polyvinylalkohol (PVA) durch die nach DIN 53015 an einer wässrigen Lösung mit 4 Masse-% bei 20 °C bestimmte Viskosität, (in mPa.s) und den Hydrolysegrad, ausgedrückt in % an hydrolysierten Vinylacetatgruppen. Geeignete Produkte werden beispielsweise unter den Marken Mowiol und Poval von Kuraray Specialties Europe vertrieben.
- Carboxylgruppenhaltiger Polyvinylalkohol (PVA-C) ebenfalls durch Viskosität und Hydrolysegrad wie oben. Geeignete Produkte sind die Typen KL-318 und KL-506 von Kuraray Specialties Europe.
- Kationisch modifizierter Polyvinylalkohol (PVA-K) ebenfalls durch Viskosität und Hydrolysegrad wie oben. Geeignete Produkte sind die Typen CM-318, C-118 und C-506 von Kuraray Specialties Europe.
- Silanolgruppen-haltige Polyvinylalkohol (PVA-R) ebenfalls durch Viskosität und Hydrolysegrad wie oben. Geeignete Produkte sit z.B. der Typ R-1130 von Kuraray Specialties Europe.
- Ethylen-vinylalkohol-Copolymer (PEVA) ebenfalls durch Viskosität und Hydrolysegrad. Geeignete Produkte werden unter der Marke Exceval von Kuraray Specialties Europe vertrieben beispielsweise der Typ HR-3010. PEVA kann durch Copolymerisation von Vinylacetat und Ethylen sowie nachfolgende Hydrolyse der Vinylacetat- zu Vinylalkoholeinheiten hergestellt werden.
- Acetalisierte Polyvinylalkohole wie Polyvinylbutyral (PVB) ebenfalls gekennzeichnet durch Viskosität, Hydrolysegrad und Acetalisierungsgrad. Zur Wahrung der Wasserlöslichkeit beträgt der Acetalisierungsgrad dabei höchstens 30 Mol%.
- Die erfindungsgemäß einsetzbaren acetalisierten Polyvinyl-alkohole wie Polyvinylbutyral werden durch Acetalisierung eines durch Hydrolyse hergestellten Polyvinylacetats gewonnen. Als Polyvinylacetat können Homopolymere des Vinylacetat als auch Copolymere von Olefinen wie Ethylen, Proplyen oder weiteren α-Olefinen mit Vinylacetat eingesetzt werden. Die nach Hydrolyse erhaltenen Polymere enthalten 0 bis 15 Mol% Olefineinheiten, 50 bis 99,9 Mol%, bevorzugt 75 bis 99,9 Mol %, besonders bevorzugt 85 bis 99,9 Mol% Vinylalkoholeinheiten und 0,1 bis 50 Mol%, bevorzugt 0,1 bis 25 Mol%, besonders bevorzugt 0,1 bis 15 Mol% Vinylacetateinheiten. Die Acetalisierung mit den genannten Aldehyden erfolgt bis zu einem Acetalisierungsgrad von 1 bis 30 Mol%, bevorzugt 1 bis 20 Mol%. Analog können die beschriebenen Silanolgruppen-haltigen, Carboxylgruppen-haltigen und kationisch modifizierten Polyvinylalkohole acetalisiert werden.
- Gelatine durch ihre Oberflächenspannung in mN/m, gemessen an einer wässrigen Lösung mit 0,1 Masse-% bei 24 °C. Geeignete Produkte sind die Typen GELITA Imagel MA (39 mN/m) und GELITA Imagel BP (56 mN/m, Marken der Stoess AG).
- Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) ist in handelsüblicher Form brauchbar.
- Alginat kann als Natriumalginat, beispielsweise erhältlich von Kimica Corp., Japan, verwendet werden.
- Die in Tabelle 1 aufgeführten Rezepturen umfassen Masseanteile an der Trockensubstanz der Imprägnierflotte, die außerdem im Wesentlichen nur Wasser enthält. Der Trockengehalt der Flotte kann zwischen 2 und 15 Masse-%, bevorzugt zwischen 5 und 7,5 Masse-% liegen. Neben den geeigneten Mengenbereichen sind für jeden Bestandteil bevorzugte Werte angegeben.

- Die so hergestellten Imprägnierflotten werden auf ein Rohpapier aus Zellstoff mit einem Mahlgrad von 65 bis 90 °SR, bevorzugt 78 - 82 °SR, das mit Alkylenbernsteinsäure massegeleimt wurde, innerhalb oder außerhalb der Papiermaschine auf einer oder auf beiden Seiten aufgetragen. Ein bevorzugter Bereich des Auftragsgewichts liegt zwischen 0,3 und 1,5 g/m2 je Seite, berechnet als Trockensubstanz in der Flotte.
- Die Imprägnierung der Papierbahn erfolgt dabei unter Anwendung eines der allgemein bekannten Auftragsverfahren innerhalb oder außerhalb der Papiermaschine und anschließender Trocknung der Bahn an Trockenzylindern oder auch kontaktlos, z.B. in Schwebetrocknern.
- Die Erfindung lässt sich in einem weiten Bereich von Flächengewichten des Rohpapiers ausführen. Bevorzugt sind Papiere oder mit 28 - 350 g/m2.
- Überraschend wurde festgestellt, dass eine auf die erfindungsgemäße Weise hergestellte Papierbahn über einen hohen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle verfügt, gemessen nach allgemein anerkannten und standardisierten Prüfverfahren wie in den Beispielen 1 bis 3, obwohl die Einzelkomponenten Polyvinylalkohol oder Gelatine oder CMC oder Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymer oder Alginate oder Galaktomannane oder Stärkederivate nur geringwertige Durchdringungswiderstände gegen Öle uns Fette entwickeln.
- Überraschend wurde außerdem gefunden, dass die auf die erfindungsgemäße Weise hergestellten Papiere über eine Nassfestigkeit von 5 bis 20%, bestimmt nach DIN ISO 3781 verfügen, ohne dass Nassverfestiger verwendet werden müssen.
- Zur weiteren Erläuterung der Erfindung sollen folgende Beispiele dienen, wobei die Beispiele 1 und 2 den Stand der Technik beschreiben und das Beispiel 3 das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren beschreibt. Die Beispiele 4 bis 14 betreffen erfindungsgemäß verwendbare Polymere, Beispiele 15 bis 30 die mit diesen Polymeren imprägnierte Papiere.
- Die am fertigen Papier ermittelten maßgeblichen Prüfergebnisse sind aus der Tabelle 2 ersichtlich. Die in den Beispiele beschriebenen Imprägniermedien wurden mit einer Leimpresse auf ungeleimtes Rohpapier (Beispiel 1 und 2 - Stand der Technik) aufgetragen, während im Beispiel 3 die Imprägnierflotte mit einer Leimpresse auf alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydridgel eimtes Rohpapier (erfindungsgemäß) aufgetragen wird.
- Alle in den Beispielen 1, 2 und 3 genannten Rohpapiere werden aus Zellstoffen hergestellt, denen ein Mahlgrad von 78 °SR bis 82 °SR verliehen wurde. Die Imprägnierung erfolgt bei einer Geschwindigkeit der Papierbahn von ca. 600 m/min. Der Auftrag erfolgt beidseitig der Papierbahn. Die Trocknung nach der Imprägnierung erfolgt zunächst kontaktlos in einem Infrarottrockner und danach mit Trockenzylindern.
- Beispiel 1 gemäß dem Stand der Technik:
- Es wird eine Papierbahn hergestellt aus Faserstoffen wie oben beschrieben. Dieser Faserstoffsuspension werden 2 %, bezogen auf das Papier, einer 12%igen Epichlorhydrinharz lösung zugefügt, um dem Papier eine gewollte Nassfestigkeit zu verleihen. Die vorgetrocknete Papierbahn wird mit einem Trockengehalt von 95 bis 99 % in einer Leimpresse mit einer Imprägnierflotte imprägniert, die aus 2 Masseteilen Komplexbildnerlösung, 10 Masseteilen Polyvinylalkohol mit einer Viskosität von 28 mPa.s, bestimmt wie oben beschrieben, und einem Hydrolysegrad von 99 %, 6,5 Masseteilen CMC mit einer mittleren Viskosität, 6,5 Masseteilen eines Galaktomannans, 65 Masseteilen eines Kartoffelstärkeesters mit filmbildenden Eigenschaften (Perfectamyl 150A - Avebe), 10 Masseteilen einer Glyoxallösung von 40%-iger Konzentration und 25 Masseteilen einer 33%-igen Lösung von Fluorcarbonen (Cartafluor UHC - Clariant AG oder Baysize FCP - Bayer AG) sowie Wasser besteht. Die Imprägnierflotte besitzt einen pH-Wert von 7,0 bis 7,3, eine Viskosität von 27 bis 30 s Auslaufzeit aus dem Fordbecher, Düse 4 mm, bei 20°C und eine Konzentration an Trockensubstanz von 6,4 bis 6,5 %. Das Auftragsgewicht auf das Rohpapier beträgt 0,9 g/m2 pro Seite, also insgesamt 1,8 g/m2. Die Papierbahn wird nach der Imprägnierung erneut getrocknet auf einen Endtrockengehalt von 93 %.
- An diesem Papier werden folgende Durchdringungswiderstände gegen Öle und Fette ermittelt (vergleiche auch Tabelle 1):
Fettdichte nach DIN 53116Stufe V: keine Durchlässigkeit Stufe IV: keine Durchlässigkeit Stufe III : keine Durchlässigkeit Stufe II: 2 Durchschläge Stufe I: 30 Durchschläge, davon 10 größer als 1 mm2 - Bei der Prüfmethode nach DIN 53116 wird mittels einer Schablone auf einer Fläche von 50 cm2 rot gefärbtes Palmkernfett auf den Prüfling aufgetragen. Die Stufe V gibt die Durchschläge nach 10 min an, die an einem untergelegten weißen Papierblatt ausgezählt werden. Die Stufe IV wird ebenfalls nach einer Prüfdauer von 10 min ermittelt, jedoch wurde das Palmkernfett mit einem Druck von 20 N/cm2 belastet. Die gleiche Belastung wird bei den Stufen III, II, und I angewendet, jedoch beträgt dann die Prüfdauer 60 min (Stufe III); 24 Stunden (Stufe II) und 36 Stunden (Stufe I).
- Fettdichte nach Tappi T454: t > 1800 s.
- Bei dieser Prüfmethode Tappi T454 wird ein definiertes Häufchen eines definierten, trockenen Sandes auf dem Prüfling platziert, dieses Häufchen wird dann mit 1,1 ml rot gefärbten Terpentinöl beträufelt. Es wird dann die Zeit in Sekunden gemessen und als Ergebnis genannt, nach der sich auf einem unter dem Prüfling befindlichen weißen Papierblatt der erste rote Durchschlag zeigt.
- Entsprechend Tappi T454 entspricht eine Zeit von 1800 s einem hohen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette uns Öle.
- Auf Grund der Verwendung von Epichlorhydrinharzen zur Nassverfestigung enthält das Papier die kritischen Substanzen Monochlorpropandiol und Dichlorpropanol in rechtlich zulässiger Menge. Außerdem enthält es organisch gebundenes Fluor, das im Verdacht steht, erbgutschädigend zu wirken.
- Beispiel 2 gemäß dem Stand der Technik:
- Es wird eine Papierbahn hergestellt aus Faserstoffen wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben. Dieser Faserstoffsuspension werden ebenfalls wie in Beispiel 1 0,5 bis 2 % bezogen auf das Papier einer 12%igen Epichlorhydrinharzlösung zugefügt, um dem Papier eine gewollte Nassfestigkeit zu verleihen.
- Die vorgetrocknete Papierbahn wird nun mit einem Trockengehalt von 95 bis 99% in einer Leimpresse mit einer Imprägnierflotte imprägniert, die aus 12 Masseteilen Polyvinylalkohol mit einer viskosität von 28 mPa.s, bestimmt wie oben, und einem Hydrolysegrad von 99 %, 7 Masseteilen CMC mit einer mittleren Viskosität, 7 Masseteilen eines Galaktomannans, 70 Masseteilen eines Kartoffelstärkeesters mit filmbildenden Eigenschaften und 10 Masseteilen einer 40 %-igen Glyoxallösung sowie Wasser besteht.
- Die Imprägnierflotte enthält keine Fluorcarbonverbindungen. Sie besitzt einen pH-Wert von 6,2 - 6,8, eine Viskosität von 24 bis 27 s Auslaufzeit aus dem Fordbecher, Düse 4 mm, und einer Konzentration an Trockensubstanz von 6,1 bis 6,3 %. Das Auftragsgewicht auf das Rohpapier beträgt 0,6 g/m2 pro Seite, also 1,2 g/m2 insgesamt. Die Papierbahn wird nach der Imprägnierung erneut getrocknet auf einen Endtrockengehalt von 93 %.
- Am nach Beispiel 2 imprägnierten, fertigen Papier werden folgende Durchdringungswiderstände gegen Fette und Öle ermittelt (vergleiche auch Tabelle 1):
Fettdichte nach DIN 53116Stufe V: keine Durchlässigkeit Stufe IV: 65 Durchschläge, davon 16 größer als 1 mm2 Stufe III,II,I : großflächige Durchschläge - Fettdichte nach Tappi T454: t = 20 sec.
- Aufgrund der Verwendung von Epichlorhydrinharzen zur Nassverfestigung enthält das Papier Monochlorpropandiol und Dichlorpropanol in rechtlich zugelassener Menge. Es besitzt jedoch nur geringen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle.
- Es wird eine Papierbahn hergestellt aus Faserstoffen wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben. Der Faserstoffsuspension wird kein Epichlorhydrinharz zugefügt, jedoch werden der Faserstoffsuspension 0,1 % Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (Baysize 18 - Bayer) und 0,9 % kationische Kartoffelstärke (HI-CAT 145 - Roquette Frères), bezogen auf Papier zugesetzt.
- Die vorgetrocknete Papierbahn wird nun mit einem Trockengehalt von 96 bis 99 % in der Leimpresse mit einer Imprägnierflotte imprägniert, die sich zusammensetzt aus 7 Masseteilen eines Polyvinylalkohols mit einer Viskosität von 15 mPa.s, bestimmt wie oben, und einem Hydrolysegrad von 79 %, 25 Masseteilen eines Polyvinylalkohols mit einer viskosität von 28 mPa.s und einem Hydrolysegrad von 99 %, 12 Masseteilen eines Polyvinylalkohols mit einer viskosität von 40 mPa.s und einem Hydrolysegrad von 88 %, 15 Masseteilen eines Polyvinylalkohols mit einer viskosität von 56 mPa.s und einem Hydrolysegrad von 88 %, 15 Masseteilen eines carboxylgruppenhaltigen Polyvinylalkohols mit einer Viskosität von 18 mPa.s und einem Hydrolysegrad von 84 %, 17 Masseteilen einer Gelatine mit einer Oberflächenspannung von 38 mN/m, gemessen wie oben beschrieben, 3 Masseteilen eines Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymers mit einer Viskosität von 18 mPa.s und einem Hydrolysegrad von 98 % (gemäß Bsp. 10 oder 11) und 15 Masseteilen einer 40%-igen Lösung von Glyoxal zur Vernetzung der Komponenten sowie Wasser. Die Imprägnierflotte besitzt einen pH-Wert von 6,4 bis 6,9, eine Viskosität von 30 bis 32 s Auslaufzeit aus dem Fordbecher, Düse 4 mm, und eine Konzentration von 7,2 bis 7,4 %. Der Trockenauftrag betrug 1,2 g/m2 je Seite.
- Die Papierbahn wird nach der Imprägnierung erneut getrocknet auf einen Endtrockengehalt von 93 %. An dem nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren hergestellten Papier werden folgende Durchdringungswiderstände gegen Fette und Öle ermittelt (vergleiche auch Tabelle 2):
- Fettdichte nach DIN 53116
- GD bedeutet großflächige Durchschläge, bei zahlreichen Durchschlägen ist hinter dem Schrägstrich die Zahl der Durchschläge größer als 1 mm2 angegeben.
- Die Rezepturen und Prüfergebnisse der Ausführungsbeispiele 1 bis 3 sind in Tabelle 2 zusammengefasst. Die Rezepturen der Flotte sind Masseprozent der Trockensubstanz. Aus den Ergebnissen ist ersichtlich, dass mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Beispiel 3 die gleichen hohen Durchdringungswiderstände erreicht werden wie im dem Stand der Technik entsprechenden Beispiel 1, ohne Fluorcarbonverbindungen zu verwenden.
- Das nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Beispiel 3 hergestellte Papier besitzt einen hohen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle, ist frei von organisch gebundenem Halogen einschließlich Epichlorhydrinharz und Fluorcarbonverbindungen, ist frei von Schwermetallen, ist recycelbar, ist bedruckbar mit Druckfarben sowohl auf Wasser- wie auf Lösungsmittelbasis und ist innerhalb der Papiermaschine im Rahmen des Herstellungsprozesses entstanden.
- 720 g Polyvinylalkohol Mowiol® 28-99 werden in 6480 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 29,01 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 23 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 302 mPa s. Das Produkt hat keinen Trübungs- und keinen Fällungspunkt. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 78°C.
- 1080 g Polyvinylalkohol Mowiol® 15-99 werden in 6120 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 60,8 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 2 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-6,5 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 15 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 138 mPa s. Die Lösungen sind bei Raumtemperatur schon trüb. Heizt man sie auf, fallen sie bei ca. 76°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 83°C.
- 1440 g Polyvinylalkohol Mowiol® 4-98 werden in 5760 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 172,02 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 5 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 21 mPa s. Die Lösungen sind bei Raumtemperatur schon trüb. Heizt man sie auf, fallen sie bei ca. 30°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 79°C.
- 1440 g Polyvinylalkohol Mowiol® 5-88 werden in 5760 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 92,52 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 5 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 23 mPa s. Die Lösungen werden bei ca. 30°C trüb. Heizt man sie weiter auf, fallen sie bei ca. 35°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 72°C.
- 1080 g Polyvinylalkohol Mowiol® 15-99 werden in 6120 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 60,8 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 14 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 124 mPa s. Die Lösungen sind bei Raumtemperatur schon trüb. Heizt man sie auf, fallen sie bei ca. 70°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 81°C.
- 1080 g Polyvinylalkohol Mowiol® 26-88 werden in 6120 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 69,4 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 23 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 328 mPa s. Die Lösungen sind bei Raumtemperatur schon trüb. Heizt man sie auf, fallen sie bei ca. 33°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 78°C.
- 1062,5 g Polyvinylalkohol Exceval RS-2117 werden in 7437,5 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 41,57 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 19 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 261 mPa s. Die Lösungen werden bei ca. 41°C trüb. Heizt man sie weiter auf, fallen sie bei ca. 48°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 77°C.
- 900 g Polyvinylalkohol Exceval HR-3010 werden in 6300 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 43,34 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 12,6 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 130,4 mPa s. Die Lösungen sind bei Raumtemperatur schon trüb. Heizt man sie auf, fallen sie bei ca. 30°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 55 °C.
- 720 g Polyvinylalkohol K-Polymer KL-318 werden in ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 28,71 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 22 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 282 mPa s. Die Lösungen werden bei ca. 73°C trüb. Heizt man sie weiter auf, fallen sie nicht aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 78°C.
- 900 g Polyvinylalkohol R-Polymer R-1130 werden in 6300 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 21,67 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 20 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 261 mPa s. Die Lösungen werden bei ca. 24°C trüb. Heizt man sie weiter auf, fallen sie bei ca. 53°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 80°C.
- 1080 g Polyvinylalkohol C-Polymer C-506 werden in 6120 ml Wasser gelöst. Nach Eintrag von 37,71 g n-Butyraldehyd wird mit 20%iger Salzsäure der pH-Wert auf ca. 1 eingestellt. Die Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei dem eingestellten pH-Wert nachgerührt. Anschließend wird die Lösung mit 10%iger Natronlauge auf einen pH-Wert von 6-8 eingestellt und 1 Stunde nachgerührt. Die Viskosität nach Höppler gemäß DIN 53015 beträgt bei einer 4 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 4 mPas und bei einer 8 Gew.-%igen Lösung in Wasser 13 mPa s. Die Lösungen werden bei ca. 38°C trüb. Heizt man sie weiter auf, fallen sie bei ca. 44°C aus. Der mittels DSC Messung ermittelte Glaspunkt (Tg) beträgt 63°C.
- In Tabelle 3 sind Beispiele von Rezepturen mit den Polymeren gemäß den Beispielen 4 bis 14 zur Beschichtung von Papieren aufgeführt.
- Tabelle 4 zeigt die Durchdringungswiderstände dieser Papiere.

Claims (15)
- Imprägniertes Papier mit einem hohen Durchdringungswiderstand gegen Fette und Öle, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es aus hochausgemahlenen Zellstoffen mit einem Mahlgrad von 15° SR bis 90° SR hergestellt, mit Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid und/oder Alkyl-Keten-Dimeren (AKD) und/oder Harzleimen massegeleimt und mit einer Imprägnierflotte behandelt ist, die ein Bindemittelsystem aus 80 bis 100 Masseteilen wasserlöslichen Bindemitteln, ausgewählt aus der Gruppe Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymere, acetalisierte Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymerisate, acetalisierte Polyvinylalkohole, Polyvinylbutyrale, Silanolgruppen-haltige kationisch modifizierte Polyvinylalkohole, acetalisierte Silanolgruppen-haltige Polyvinylalkohole, acetalisierte kationisch modifizierte Polyvinylalkohole, carboxylgruppenhaltige Polyvinylalkohole einschließlich Mischungen daraus umfasst.
- Papier nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es 0,05 bis 0,3 Masseprozent Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid zur Masseleimung enthält.
- Papier nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Imprägnierflotte zusätzlich bis zu 20 Masseteile wasserunlöslicher Polymere in Dispersion enthält.
- Papier nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die wasserunlöslichen Polymere in Dispersion aus der Gruppe ausgewählt sind, die Polyacrylnitrile, Polyacrylate, Polyvinylacetate und Polystyrol-Polyacrylat-Copolymerisate umfasst.
- Papier nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Gelatine eine Oberflächenspannung von weniger als 42 mN/m, gemessen als 0,1-prozentige Lösung bei 24 °C, hat.
- Papier nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Polyvinylalkohol ein Gemisch aus mindestens zwei Typen ist, von denen mindestens einer eine Viskosität größer und mindestens einer eine Viskosität kleiner als 35 mpa.s aufweist.
- Papier nach einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Imprägnierflotte ein Vernetzungsmittel enthält.
- Papier nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Vernetzungsmittel Glyoxal ist.
- Papier nach einem der Ansprüche 7 oder 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Imprägnierflotte eine Mischung aus Glyoxal als Vernetzungsmittel und acetalisierten Polyvinyl-alkohol und/oder acetalisierte Carboxylgruppen-haltige Polyvinylalkohole als wasserlösliche Bindemittel enthält.
- Papier nach einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Auftragsgewicht der Imprägnierflotte, als Trockensubstanz berechnet, 0,3 bis 1,5 g/m2 je Seite beträgt.
- Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Papiers, umfassend die Schritte- Herstellung eines Rohpapiers aus Zellstoff, Holzstoff oder recycliertem Altpapier mit einem Mahlgrad von 15° SR bis 90° SR unter Masseleimung mit Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid und/oder Alkyl-Keten-Dimeren (AKD) und/oder Harzleimen und Imprägnierung dieses Papiers mit einer Imprägnierflotte, die ein Bindemittelsystem aus 80 bis 100 Masseteilen wasserlöslichen Bindemitteln ausgewählt aus der Gruppe Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymere, acetalisierte Ethylen-Vinylalkohol-Copolymerisate, acetalisierte Polyvinylalkohole, Polyvinylbutyrale, Silanolgruppen-haltige, kationisch modifizierte Polyvinylalkohole, acetalisierte Silanolgruppen-haltige Polyvinylalkohole, acetalisierte kationisch modifizierte Polyvinylalkohole, carboxylgruppenhaltige Polyvinylalkohole einschließlich Mischungen daraus.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Imprägnierflotte zusätzlich bis zu 20 Masseteile wasserunlösliche Polymere in Dispersion enthält.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die wasserunlöslichen Polymere in Dispersion aus der Gruppe ausgewählt sind, die Polyacrylnitrile, Polyacrylate, Polyvinylacetate und Polystyrol-Polyacrylat-Copolymerisate umfasst.
- Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 11 bis 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Imprägnierung in einer Leimpresse, Filmpresse oder einer sonstigen der allgemein bekannten Auftragsvorrichtung erfolgt.
- Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 11 bis 14, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das geleimte Rohpapier vor der Imprägnierung auf einen Trockengehalt von 95 bis 99 % getrocknet wird.
