Description

  • Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Metallhydroxiden und/oder Metallcarbonaten durch anodische Auflösung entsprechender Metalle und Fällung der Hydroxide bzw. basischen Carbonate in wässrigem Medium.
  • Metallhydroxide bzw. basische Metallcarbonate werden üblicherweise durch Fällung aus entsprechenden wässrigen Metallsalzlösungen durch Umsetzung mit Alkalihydroxiden bzw. Alkalihydrogencarbonaten hergestellt. Dabei fallen stöchiometrische Mengen an Neutralsalzen an, die aufgearbeitet oder entsorgt werden müssen.
  • Zur Vermeidung des Neutralsalzanfalls wurde daher gemäß US-A 5,391,265 vorgeschlagen, Nickelhydroxid durch Erzeugung von Nickelionen durch anodische Auflösung und Hydroxylionen durch elektrolytische Wasserzersetzung bereitzustellen, wobei neben gefälltem Nickelhydroxid Wasserstoff an der Kathode entsteht. Die Elektrolysezelle wird dabei mit einer Leitsalzlösung (Natriumchlorid und Natriumsulfat) beschickt, wobei die Leitsalzlösung nach Abtrennung des gefällten Nickelhydroxids wieder in die Elektrolysezelle zurückgeführt. wird. Der Prozess verläuft demgemäss im wesentlichen ohne Anfall von Neutralsalzen. Nachteilig bei diesem Prozess ist, dass das Nickelhydroxid in sehr feinteiliger Form eines zwar filtrierbaren, jedoch gel-ähnlichen Produkts mit hohen gebundenen Wassergehalten anfällt, das anschließend konditioniert werden muss. Eine Einflussnahme auf die erzielbare Teilchengröße ist nur sehr schwer möglich.
  • Gemäß EP-A 684 324 wurde vorgeschlagen, in einer durch eine anionenaktive Ionenaustauschmembran geteilten Zweikammerelektroysezelle getrennte Anolyt- und Katholytkreisläufe zu zirkulieren, wobei in der Anodenkammer Nickel anodisch aufgelöst wird, der Anolyt Ammoniak als Komplexierungsmittel enthält, in der Kathodenkammer Hydroxylionen erzeugt und durch die Membran in die Anodenkammer überführt werden, in dem Anolyten durch Temperaturerhöhung die Nickelamminkomplexe hydrolysiert werden und Nickelhydroxid gefällt und aus dem Anolyten abgetrennt wird. Das Verfahren erlaubt es, über die Steuerung des Hydrolyseprozesses die Teilchengröße des Nickelhydroxids in weiten Bereichen zu steuern. Das Verfahren ist allerdings kostenintensiv und durch die noch unzureichende Standzeit kommerziell verfügbarer Membranen störanfällig.
  • Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Metallhydroxiden zur Verfügung zu stellen, das die genannten Nachteile nicht aufweist. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren erlaubt ferner die Herstellung von basischen Metallcarbonaten im wesentlichen ohne Neutralsalzanfall.
  • Es wurde nun gefunden, dass es gelingt, Metallhydroxide oder basische Metallcarbonate in einem zweistufigen Verfahren dadurch herzustellen, dass in einer ersten Stufe unter Einsatz einer Alkalisalzlösung durch anodische Auflösung des Metalls eine Metallsalzlösung und durch kathodische Wasserstoffentwicklung eine alkalische Alkalisalzlösung gewonnen werden, die in einer zweiten Stufe zur Fällung des Metallhydroxids vereinigt werden. Die nach Abtrennung des Metallhydroxid-Fällungsprodukts erhaltene Alkalimetallsalzlösung wird in die Elektrolysezelle zurückgeführt. Dies gelingt durch Einsatz einer Dreikammerelektrolysezelle, bei der die Kammern durch poröse Membranen getrennt sind, unter Einleitung einer Alkalisalzlösung in die Zwischenkammer zwischen Kathoden- und Anodenkammer. Bei zusätzlicher Einleitung von Kohlendioxid in die Kathodenkammer oder in den Fällungsreaktor der zweiten Stufe werden basische Carbonate erhalten.
  • Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist demgemäss ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Metallhydroxiden oder basischen Metallcarbonaten durch anodische Auflösung entsprechender Metalle und Fällung der Hydroxide bzw. basischen Carbonate in wässrigem Medium, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass die anodische Auflösung der Metallkomponente in der Anodenkammer einer Dreikammerelektrolysezelle erfolgt, der zwischen Anodenkammer und Kathodenkammer angeordneten und von diesen durch poröse Membranen abgetrennten Zwischenkammer kontinuierlich eine wässrige Hilfssalzlösung zugeführt wird, der Anodenkammer kontinuierlich eine zumindest nicht alkalische Metallsalzlösung entnommen wird, der Kathodenkammer kontinuierlich eine alkalische Hilfssalzlösung entnommen wird, und die zumindest nicht alkalische Metallsalzlösung und die alkalische Hilfssalzlösung außerhalb der Elektrolysezelle zur Ausfällung von Metallhydroxiden bzw. basischen Metallcarbonaten vereinigt werden.
  • Gegebenenfalls kann während der Fällung aus den vereinigten Lösungen eine Alkalihydroxidlösung zur Einstellung des gewünschten Fällungs-pH-Wertes und eine Lösung mit einem Komplexbildner, z.B. eine NH3-Lösung zur Erzeugung sphärischer Fällprodukte zugeführt werden.
  • Basische Metallcarbonate werden auf einfache Weise so erhalten, dass entweder in die Kathodenkammer oder in die vereinigte Fällungslösung Kohlendioxid eingeleitet wird.
  • Geeignete Metalle sind solche, die im wässrigen Medium lösliche Salze bilden, in neutralem oder alkalischem Medium als Hydroxide und/oder basische Carbonate gefällt werden können und die in der Elektrolysezelle als Anode geschaltet keine nichtleitenden Oberflächenschichten bilden (Oxide). Besonders bevorzugt werden als Metalle Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, In, Mn, Sn, Zn, Cd und/oder Al eingesetzt. Bevorzugt werden Nickel oder Kobaltanoden eingesetzt.
  • Als in die Zwischenkammer der Elektrolysezelle einzuleitende Hilfssalze sind Chloride, Nitrate, Sulfate, Acetate und/oder Formiate der Alkali- und/oder Erdalkalimetalle geeignet. Bevorzugt sind Natriumchlorid und Natriumsulfat. Die Hilfssalzlösung weist vorzugsweise eine Konzentration von 1 bis 3 Mol/l auf.
  • Die in die Zwischenkammer eingeleitete Hilfssalzlösung durchströmt die porösen Membranen zur Anodenkammer und zur Kathodenkammer, wobei durch die Wirkung des elektrischen Feldes eine partielle Ionentrennung der Hilfssalzlösung in einen Anteil mit Anionen-Überschuß, der zur Anode strömt und einen Anteil mit Kationen-Überschuß, der zur Kathode strömt, erfolgt. Dabei wird die Hilfssalzlösung vorzugsweise unter einem solchen Druck in die Zwischenkammer eingeleitet, dass die Strömungsgeschwindigkeit durch die porösen Membranen größer ist, als die Wanderungsgeschwindigkeit der anodisch erzeugten Metallionen und der kathodisch erzeugten OH--Ionen in der jeweiligen Lösung, so dass die anodisch erzeugten Metallionen und die kathodisch erzeugen OH--Ionen nicht in die Zwischenkammer gelangen können. Andererseits ist die Auftrennung der Hilfssalzlösung in Anionen- und Kationen-Überschuß-Anteil um so besser, dass heißt der Transport von neutralem Hilfssalz in die Anoden- und Kathodenkammer um so geringer, je geringer die Strömungsgeschwindigkeit der Hilfssalzlösung durch die Membranen ist. Optimale Bedingungen lassen sich in Abhängigkeit von den strukturellen Eigenschaften des Trennmediumns bzw. dessen Durchlässigkeit oder Strömungswiderstand durch einfache Vorversuche ermitteln. Bezüglich Trennwirkung und aufzuwendender elektrischer Energie lässt sich ein Optimum einstellen, das durch die Art und Konzentration des Elektrolyten bestimmt wird. Die Zuflussrate des Elektrolyten muss so gewählt sein, dass die Ionen mit der höheren Beweglichkeit in jedem Falle am Durchtritt in den Mittelraum gehindert werden. Vorzugsweise beträgt das Verhältnis von Anionen zu Kationen der Hilfssalzlösung, die durch die Membran zur Anodenseite hindurchtritt etwa 1,5 bis 3 und umgekehrt das Verhältnis von Kationen zu Anionen der Hilfssalzlösung, die durch die Membran zur Kathodenkammer hindurchtritt, etwa 1,2 bis 3.
  • Vorzugsweise tritt die gesamte, in die Zwischenkammer eingeleitete Hilfssalzlösung durch die porösen Membanen hindurch.
  • Als Membranen sind poröse, vorzugsweise gewebte Tücher oder Netze geeignet, die aus Materialien bestehen, die gegen die Hilfssalzlösungen, die Anolyten und die Katholyten, resistent sind. Beispielsweise können Tücher aus Polypropylen eingesetzt werden wie sie von der Firma SCAPA FILTRATION GmbH unter der Bezeichnung Propex angeboten werden. Geeignete Tücher weisen vorzugsweise einen Porenradius von 10 bis 30 µm auf. Die Porosität kann 20 bis 50 % betragen.
  • Die in den Anodenraum aus dem Mittelraum durchtretende Hilfssalzlösung mit Anionen-Überschuß wird durch die anodische Auflösung der Metallanode im wesentlichen neutralisiert und kontinuierlich als Anolyt abgeleitet. Zur Vermeidung der Entstehung von Fällungsprodukten in der Anodenkammerlösung (Anolyt) kann eine geringe Säuremenge in die Anodenkammer eingespeist werden, vorzugsweise durch Einspeisung einer Säure, die das Anion der Hilfssalzlösung enthält. Der aus der Anodenkammer ablaufende Anolyt weist vorzugsweise einen Metallsalzgehalt von 0,5 bis 2 mol/l auf. An der Kathode entstehen Wasserstoff und OH--Ionen entsprechend dem durch die Membran zum Kathodenraum hindurchgetretenen Überschuss an Kationen des Hilfssalzes. Aus der Kathodenkammer läuft also eine alkalische Hilfssalzlösung über (Katholyt).
  • Anolyt und Katholyt werden anschließend in einem Fällungsreaktor zur Fällungsreaktion gebracht. Zur Einstellung des Fällungs-pH-Wertes kann gegebenenfalls die Zugabe einer Hydroxidlösung erfolgen und gegebenenfalls können Komplexierungsmittel wie Ammoniak zugegeben werden, um eine sphärische Form der Fällungsprodukte zu erreichen. Zur Herstellung basischer Carbonate wird Kohlendioxid in den Katholyt oder direkt in den Fällungsreaktor geleitet. Nach Abtrennung des Fällungsproduktes verbleibt eine gegebenenfalls alkalische Hilfssalzlösung, die nach Neutralisation vorzugsweise in die Zwischenkammer der Elektrolyse zurückgeführt wird. Es ist auch möglich, Anolyt und Katholyt in Zwischenbehältern zu speichern und die Fällung diskontinuierlich durchzuführen.
  • Zur Herstellung dotierter Metallhydroxide können entsprechende Metallsalzlösungen von Salzen der Dotierungsmetalle in den Fällungsreaktor eingeleitet werden, wobei der Bedarf an dem Fällungsreaktor zugeführten Alkalihydroxid zur Einstellung des Fällungs-pH-Wertes molar entsprechend der Menge der Dotierungssalze ansteigt. Es entsteht also ein entsprechender überschüssiger Neutralsalzanfall, der nicht in die Zwischenkammer der Elektrolysezelle zurückgeführt werden kann.
  • Zur Herstellung von Mischmetallhydroxiden ist es daher zweckmäßig, entweder entsprechend der Mischmetallhydroxidzusammensetzung legierte Anoden einzusetzen oder in der Anodenkammer mehrere Anoden aus den Legierungsmetallen vorzusehen, wobei diese mit Elektrolysestromstärken beaufschlagt werden, deren Verhältnis dem (Äquivalent)-Verhältnis der Metalle die der Mischmetallhydroxidzusammcnsetzung entspricht oder, aber in getrennten Dreikammerelektrolysezellen die jeweiligen Metallsalzkomponenten getrennt herzustellen.
  • Die Fällungsreaktion kann ferner durch die Gegenwart von Komplexbildnern, beispielsweise Ammoniak, in dem Fällungsreaktor gesteuert werden. So werden bei der Herstellung von Nickelhydroxid durch Einleitung von Ammoniak in den Fällungsreaktor sphärische Nickelhydroxide erhalten.
  • Amphotere Dotierungsmetalle, wie z.B. Aluminium, können als Aluminiumsalz oder Aluminate in den Katholyten eingeleitet werden.
  • Im Anschluss an die Fällung wird das Fällungsprodukt von der vereinigten Hilfssalzlösung (Mutterlauge) abgetrennt. Dies kann durch Sedimentation, mittels Zyklonen, durch Zentrifugieren oder Filtration erfolgen. Die Abtrennung kann stufenweise erfolgen, wobei das Fällungsprodukt fraktioniert nach Teilchengröße gewonnen wird. Ferner kann es zweckmäßig sein, einen Teil der Mutterlauge nach Abtrennung der großen Metallhydroxidteilchen mit den kleinen Metallhydroxidteilchen als Kristallisationskeimen in den Fällungsreaktor zurückzuführen.
  • Die vom Fällungsprodukt befreite Mutterlauge wird, gegebenenfalls nach einer Aufarbeitung, in die Zwischenkammer der Dreikammerelektrolysezelle zurückgeführt. Die Aufarbeitung dient der Entfernung von restlichen Metallionen, der Verhinderung der Anreicherung von Verunreinigungen und der Wiedereinstellung von Konzentration und Zusammensetzung der Hilfssalzlösung, beispielsweise dem Strippen von gegebenenfalls zur Fällung eingeführtem Komplexierungsmittel. Die Aufarbeitung der Mutterlauge kann im Teilstrom erfolgen.
  • Andererseits ist das Verfahren bezüglich der Aufarbeitung der Hilfssalzlösung unempfindlich. So ist es im allgemeinen unschädlich, wenn das Komplexierungsmittel mit der Mutterlauge in die Zwischenkammer zurückgeführt wird. Ebenfalls wird das Verfahren durch die Einschleusung geringer Mengen an Metallionen in die Zwischenkammer kaum beeinträchtigt. Die Metallionen fallen in der Zwischenkammer oder im Katholyten als gegebenenfalls sedimentierender Hydroxidschlamm aus oder werden mit dem Katholyten als feinstteiliges Hydroxid in den Fällungsreaktor ausgetragen.
  • Mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren steht ein äußerst flexibles elektrolytisches Verfahren zur Herstellung von Metallhydroxiden zur Verfügung, bei dem im wesentlichen neben den Einsatzstoffen des Anodenmetalls und Wasser sowie geringer Mengen Säuren und/oder Basen zur pH-Wert-Regulierung keine weiteren Einsatzstoffe erforderlich sind und demgemäß auch keine Nebenprodukte entstehen. Die Flexibilität folgt aus der elektrolytischen Auftrennung einer rezirkulierbaren, neutralen Hilfssalzlösung in einen sauren und alkalischen Anteil beim Durchgang durch robuste poröse, elektrochemisch inaktive Membranen. Auf diese Weise gelingt es, die Metallionen und die Hydroxidionen in Form von getrennten Lösungen aus der Elektrolysezelle auszuschleusen und erst für die Fällung wieder zu vereinigen. Dadurch ist die Fällung selbst ohne Einfluss auf oder Rückwirkung durch den Elektrolyseprozess unabhängig steuerbar.
  • Mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren steht demgemäß ein äußerst flexibles Verfahren zur Herstellung von Metallhydroxiden oder basischen Carbonaten zur Verfügung. Der Fachmann ist ohne weiteres in der Lage, jeweils an die besonderen Erfordernisse der Herstellung eines speziellen Produktes angepaßte weitere Variationen vorzunehmen. Beispielsweise ist es unter Inkaufnahme geringfügig höherer Drucke in der Zwischenkammer möglich, durch Einsatz mehrlagiger Filtertücher das Leitsalz-Anionen/Kationen-Verhältnis, das zum Anolyten bzw. Katholyten übertritt, günstiger zu gestalten. Der Mittelraum kann kathoden- und anodenseitig auch durch unterschiedliche Abtrennmedien (Filtertücher, Diaphragmen us.w.) separiert werden, um unterschiedliche Strömungsverhältnisse (-geschwindigkeiten) in den Kathoden- und Anodenraum zu ermöglichen. Weiterhin sind unter Aufrechterhaltung des Dreikammerprinzips, d.h. der Abtrennung des Anoden- und Kathodenraumes durch einen Mittelraum, geometrisch völlig andersartige Anordnungen der Elektroden und Abtrennmedien möglich. Beispielsweise können die Elektroden konzentrisch wie in einem Röhrenkondensator angeordnet sein. In der Mitte einer zylinderförmigen Zelle befindet sich eine Zylinderelektrode, die Gegenelektrode ist konzentrisch zu dieser Mittelelektrode als Röhre ausgebildet. In dem röhrenförmigen Zwischenraum zwischen beiden Elektroden befindet sich der ebenfalls konzentrisch angeordnete Mittelraum, der aus zwei parallel verlaufenden, röhrenförmigen Filtertüchern, Diaphragmen o.ä. Trennmedien gebildet wird.
  • Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ferner eine Vorrichtung zur Herstellung von Metallhydroxiden, enthaltend eine Dreikammerelektrolysezelle, einen Fällungsreaktor und Mitteln zur Abtrennung von Feststoffen aus dem Ablauf des Fällungsreaktors, wobei die Elektrolysezelle durch poröse Membranen in einer Anodenkammer, eine Zwischenkammer und eine Kathodenkammer geteilt ist, einen Zulauf zur Zwischenkammer, einen Ablauf aus der Anodenkammer und einen Ablauf aus der Kathodenkammer aufweist, ein Zulauf des Fällungsreaktors mit dem Ablauf aus der Anodenkammer verbunden ist und ein weiterer Zulauf des Fällungsreaktors mit dem Ablauf aus der Kathodenkammer verbunden ist.
  • Die Kathodenkammer weist ferner einen Abzug für kathodisch erzeugten Wasserstoff auf. Ferner können Einspeisungsmöglichkeiten für untergeordnete Mengen an Hilfsreagenzien wie Säure in die Anodenkammer, Base in den Fällungsreaktor, beides zur pH-Wert-Einstellung, sowie Komplexierungs- und Dotiermittel in den Fällungsreaktor vorgesehen sein.
  • Die Erfindung wird anhand der beigefügten Figur 1 näher erläutert:
    • Figur 1 zeigt schematisch die Dreikammerelektrolysezelle 1, den Fällungsreaktor 2 und die Abtrennvorrichtung 3 für das Fällungsprodukt Die Elektrolysezelle 1 ist durch die porösen Membranen 13 und 14 in die Anodenkammer A, die Zwischenkammer I und die Kathodenkammer K aufgeteilt. In der Anodenkammer befindet sich die Anode 11, die aus dem anodisch aufzulösenden Metall besteht; in der Kathodenkammer befindet sich die gegenüber der alkalischen Hilfssalzlösung widerstandsfähige Kathode K. In die Zwischenkammer I wird mittels Mengenstrom-geregelter Pumpe 46 eine neutrale Hilfssalzlösung über Leitung 40 eingeleitet. Zwischen Anode A und Kathode K fließt ein konstanter Strom mit Stromdichten von 300 bis 1200 A/m2. Aus der Anodenkammer A läuft über Leitung 41 eine im wesentlichen neutrale oder schwach saure Hilfssalz- und Anodenmetallsalz-haltige Lösung über. Aus der Kathodenkammer läuft über Leitung 42 eine alkalische Hilfssalzlösung über. Vom Kopf der Kathodenkammer wird über Leitung 15 Wasserstoff ausgeschleust.
  • Zur Einstellung eines bestimmten pH-Wertes kann über Leitung 16 in die Anodenkammer Säure zugeführt werden.
  • Ferner kann über Leitung 17 zur Herstellung von basischen Metallcarbonaten Kohlendioxid eingeleitet werden.
  • Die Abläufe 41 und 42 aus der Elektrolysezelle 1 werden in den Fällungsreaktor 2 eingeleitet. Der Fällungsreaktor enthält beispielsweise einen schnellaufenden Rührer 21. Der Fällungsreaktor kann auch als Schlaufen- oder Treibstrahlreaktor oder in einer anderen Bauart ausgeführt sein. Die Fällungssuspension läuft aus dem Fällungsreaktor in Leitung 43 über. Ferner können Einleitvorrichtungen 22, 23 und 24 vorgesehen sein, um Hilfs- und Modifizierungsmittel, wie zur pH-Wert-Einstellung, Dotierung und/oder Beeinflussung der Fällung durch Einleitung von Komplexierungsmittel oder Einleitung von CO2 zur Herstellung basischer Carbonate vorgesehen sein. Je nach den gewünschten Fällungsbedingungen kann der Fällungsreaktor 2 auch als Reaktor-Kaskade ausgebildet sein, wobei in die einzelnen Reaktoren der Kaskade Teilströme der Elektrolysezellenabläufe 41 oder 42 eingeleitet werden.
  • Die Fällungssuspension gelangt über Leitung 43 in die hier als Hydro-Zyklon dargestellte Abtrennvorrichtung 3, aus der über den Unterlauf 31 der gefällte Feststoff weitgehend abgezogen wird und über Leitung 44 die von Feststoff befreite Fällungs-Mutterlauge zur Aufarbeitung 45 überläuft. Pfeil 48 deutet schematisch die Einleitung von Aufarbeitungsreagentien und die Abtrennung von gegebenenfalls störenden Komponenten an. Die aufgearbeitete Mutterlauge kann über Leitung 47 und Pumpe 46 in die Zwischenkammer I zurückgeführt werden.
  • Beispiel 1
  • Es wurde eine Elektrolysezelle, wie sie schematisch in Figur 1 dargestellt ist, eingesetzt. Die Anoden- und Kathodenfläche betrugen jeweils 7,5 dm2. Der Abstand der Elektroden betrug 4 cm. Als poröse Membranen wurden Polypropylen-Tücher mit einem mittleren Porendurchmesser von 26 µm und einer aus der Dichtebestimmung des Tuches errechneten Porosität von 28 % eingesetzt, wie sie von der Firma SScapa Filtration GmbH (Propex E14K) erhältlich sind. Die Anode bestand aus Reinstnickel. Als Kathode wurde ebenfalls eine Nickelelektrode eingesetzt. Der Zwischenkammer der Zelle wurden stündlich 8,18 1 Natriumchloridlösung enthaltend 80 g/l Natriumchlorid zugeführt. Ferner wurden in den Anodenraum stündlich 25 ml einer 1-normalen Salzsäurelösung eingeleitet.
  • Die anodische Stromstärke betrug 1000 A/m2. Zwischen Anode und Kathode wurde eine Spannung von 7,3 V gemessen. Nach Erreichen des stationären Zustandes flossen aus der Anodenkammer stündlich 3,67 1 Anolyt und aus der Kathodenkammer 4,53 1 Katholyt über.
  • Anolyt und Katholyt wurden kontinuierlich in einen Fällungsrührreaktor eingeleitet, in den zusätzlich stündlich 184 ml Ammoniaklösung mit 220 g/l NH3 und 107 ml/h Natronlauge enthaltend 200 g/l NaOH sowie 71,4 ml einer Dotierlösung enthaltend 20g/l Kobalt und 100 g/l Zink in Form ihrer Chloridsalze eingeleitet wurden.
  • Aus dem Überlauf des Fällungsbehälters wurden stündlich 142,9 g Nickelhydroxid, das mit 1 % Kobalt und 5 % Zink dotiert war, abgetrennt.
  • Die alkalische Mutterlauge wurde zur Entfernung des Ammoniaks in eine StrippKolonne eingeleitet, anschließend neutralisiert und in den Vorratsbehälter, aus dem die Hilfssalzlösung entnommen wird, zurückgeführt.
  • Es wurde ein für den Einsatz als positives Elektrodenmaterial für wiederaufladbare Batterien hervorragend geeignetes sphärisches Nickelhydroxid mit einem mittleren Teilchendurchmesser von 12 µm erhalten. Die elektrochemische Massenausnutzung ergab in Standardhalbzellentests mindestens 100 %.
  • Beispiel 2
  • Beispiel 1 wurde wiederholt mit dem Unterschied, dass eine Hilfssalzlösung eingesetzt wurde, die zusätzlich zu 80 g/l NaCl 4,5 g/l NH3 enthält. Auf die Einleitung von Ammoniaklösung in den Fällungsreaktor wurde verzichtet.
  • Beispiel 3
  • Beispiel 2 wurde wiederholt mit dem Unterschied, dass in der Anodenkammer zusätzliche Cobalt- und Zinkelektroden angebracht werden und diese mit Stromstärken beaufschlagt wurden, die dem gewünschten molaren Verhältnis von Co und Zn im Nickelhydroxid entsprechen. Die Aufarbeitung der Mutterlauge aus dem Fällungsreaktor bestand nur noch in einer Zugabe von verbrauchtem Wasser.
  • Das Produkt ergab folgende Analysedaten:

  • Beispiel 4
  • In den Zwischenraum der Elektrolysezelle gemäß Beispiel 1 werden 5,66 l/h einer 8 %igen Kochsalzlösung eingespeist. Gleichzeitig werden 119,5 g CO2/h gasförmig über eine Glasfritte in den Kathodenraum eingeleitet. Die anodische Stromstärke beträgt 72,8 A. Nach Erreichen des stationären Zustandes laufen aus dem Anodenraum 2,66 l/h Anolyt mit einer Cobaltkonzentration von 30,1 g/l und aus dem Kathodenraum 3,03 l/h Katholyt mit einer Natriumhydrogencarbonatkonzentration von 75,4 g/l ab. Die beiden Abläufe werden in dem Fällungsreaktor unter starkem Rühren bei einer Temperatur von 80°C vereinigt. Aus dem Reaktor laufen kontinuierlich 5,55 l/h einer Suspension mit einem Feststoffgehalt von 26,3 g/l ab. Die Suspension wird über 5 Stunden gesammelt und anschließend über eine Filtemutsche filtriert. Nach dem Waschen mit 2,21 Wasser und Trocknen im Trockenschrank bei 80°C erhält man ein basisches Cobaltcarbonat mit einem Cobaltgehalt von 54,8 Gew.-% und einem CO3-Gehalt von 23,5 Gew.-%. Das Produkt besitzt sphärische Morphologie und läßt sich unter Erhaltung der Morphologie in sphärisches Cobalt-Metallpulver mit hervorragendem Heißpreßverhalten umwandeln.

Claims (17)

  1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Metallhydroxiden oder basischen Metallcarbonaten durch anodische Auflösung entsprechender Metalle und Fällung der Hydroxide bzw. basischen Carbonate in wässrigem Medium, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass die anodische Auflösung der Metallkomponente in der Anodenkammer einer Dreikammerelektrolysezelle erfolgt, der zwischen Anodenkammer und Kathodenkammer angeordneten und von diesen durch poröse Membranen abgetrennten Zwischenkammer kontinuierlich eine wässrige Hilfssalzlösung zugeführt wird, der Anodenkammer kontinuierlich eine mindestens nicht alkalische Metallsalzlösung entnommen wird, der Kathodenkammer kontinuierlich eine alkalische Hilfssalzlösung entnommen wird, und die mindestens nicht alkalische Metallsalzlösung und die alkalische Hilfssalzlösung außerhalb der Elektrolysezelle zur Ausfällung von Metallhydroxiden bzw. basischen Metallcarbonaten vereinigt werden.
  2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass während der Vereinigung der mindestens nicht alkalischen Metallsalzlösung und der alkalischen Hilfssalzlösung zusätzlich eine Alikalihydroxidlösung zur Einstellung des erforderlichen Fällungs-pH-Wertes zugeführt wird.
  3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Fällungslösung nach Abtrennung der gefällten Metallhydroxide bzw. alkalischen Metallcarbonate in die Zwischenkammer der Elektrolysezelle zurückgeführt wird.
  4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Fällungslösung vor der Rückführung in die Elektrolysezelle aufbereitet wird.
  5. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Fällung in Gegenwart eines Komplexierungsmittels erfolgt.
  6. Verfahren nach Ansprüchen 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Fällung in Gegenwart von Ammoniak erfolgt.
  7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Ammoniak nach Abtrennung der Metallhydroxide bzw. alkalischen Metallcarbonate aus der Fällungslösung gestrippt wird.
  8. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als Membranen poröse Filtertücher eingesetzt werden.
  9. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Hilfssalzlösung der Zwischenkammer unter einem solchen Druck zugeführt wird, dass die Strömungsgeschwindigkeit durch die porösen Filtertücher nicht kleiner ist als die mittlere Ionenwanderungsgeschwindigkeit unter Wirkung des elektrischen Feldes in der Hilfssalzlösung.
  10. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als Metalle Fe, Co, Ni, Cu. In, Mn, Sn, Cd und/oder Al eingesetzt werden.
  11. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als Hilfssalz Chloride, Nitrate, Sulfate, Acetate und/oder Formiate der Alkali- und/oder Erdalkalimetalle eingesetzt werden.
  12. Verfahren nach Anspruch 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als Metall Nickel und/oder Cobalt und als Hilfssalz Natriumchlorid eingesetzt werden.
  13. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Hilfssalzlösung in der Zwischenkammer mit einer Konzentration von 1,5 bis 5 Mol-% eingeleitet wird.
  14. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die aus der Anodenkammer abgeleitete saure Metallsalzlösung eine Metallsalzkonzentration von 0,3 bis 2 Mol-% aufweist.
  15. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 14, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass in die Fällungslösung Dotiersubstanzen für das Metallhydroxid bzw. basische Metallcarbonat in Form von wasserlöslichen Salzlösungen eingeleitet werden.
  16. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 15, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass zur Herstellung basischer Carbonate Kohlendioxid in die Katholytlösung eingeleitet wird.
  17. Vorrichtung zur Herstellung von Metallhydroxiden enthaltend eine Dreikammerelektrolysezelle, die durch poröse Membranen, in eine Anodenkammer, eine Zwischenkammer und eine Kathodenkammer geteilt ist, die einen Zulauf zur Zwischenkammer, einen Ablauf aus der Anodenkammer und einen Ablauf aus der Kathodenkammer, aufweist, einen Fällungsreaktor, dessen einer Zulauf mit dem Ablauf der Anodenkammer und dessen anderer Zulauf mit dem Ablauf der Kathodenkammer verbunden ist, und der einen Ablauf aufweist, sowie Mitteln zur Abtrennung von Feststoffen aus dem Ablauf des Fällungsreaktors.
