Definitions
- the present invention relates to a package with a tear-open aid and with sealing edges made of a film-shaped composite material, a method for producing the package, means for producing the package and the use of the package.
- sealed edge bags are known which are intended for packaging powdered or solid filling goods.
- Typical filling goods can be from the area of food and beverages, such as powdered instantly soluble coffee or chocolate bars, milk dishes, such as yoghurt, and the like.
- the packaging must protect the filling goods from mechanical, chemical and physical influences. For this reason, such packaging is in many cases made of multi-layer packaging material, whereby a specific protective function can be assigned to individual layers of material or a combination of layers of material.
- the packaging material must be tear-resistant, for example. This requires very stretchable or stretchable materials with high structural strength. Opening a packaging made of such materials is difficult and cannot be accomplished without the use of scissors or a knife.
- a marking aid can be, for example, a notch on the outer edge of the sealed seam.
- the material of such a package can be torn very easily, the tear direction can no longer be controlled when tearing through the bag wall and the opening that is created is often incomplete or leads through the middle of a side wall.
- the marking aid must be attached in the packaging machine. This reduces the operating speed of the packaging machine. In many cases one tries to remedy the disadvantages by placing a tear strip between two layers of material and by pulling on the tear strip a division of the packaging material is achieved. The opening that is created is clearly defined, but the production of this tear-open aid is complex and leads to inflexible manufacturing processes.
- the object of the present invention is to propose a packaging which protects the contents as best as possible and is nevertheless easy to open, but can be produced in a simple manner and minimizes the use of machines with the greatest possible freedom in terms of packaging design.
- a film-shaped composite material which is multilayered and at least one material layer of the composite material has no weakened zones and at least one material layer of the composite material weakens zones. points and the weakened zones on the packaging are at least partially in the area of the filling space.
- packaging examples are bags, such as flat bags, sealed edge bags, space bags, stand-up space bags or tubular bags or sacks, such as welded flat or folded bags.
- the packaging can have a closing seam on at least one side edge, e.g. have a sealed seam, such as a hot or cold sealed seam, welded seam or adhesive seam.
- flat bags can have, for example, three or four sealing seams on three or four side edges
- a tubular bag can have an upper and a lower transverse seam or can have an upper and a lower transverse seam and a torso seam, such as an overlapping or folded torso seam, exhibit.
- the weakened zones on a packaging according to the invention are preferably in the area of the sealing edges and / or in areas in which the composite material lies two or more times one above the other by folding and / or sealing.
- the weakened zones can, for example, extend from an outer boundary of a sealing edge through it to the filling space of a packaging.
- One or more of the weakened zones can, for example, also extend from an outer boundary of a packaging over the filling space of a packaging.
- One or more of the weakened zones can, for example, also only extend over the filling space of a package.
- Several weakened zones are advantageously on a substantially straight line. Weakened zones are advantageously located in the area of an edge seal or sealing edge seal of a packaging.
- the area can, for example, measured from an edge seal or seal edge seal, extend up to 50 mm, expediently up to 20 mm, over the filling space.
- the area can also extend parallel at a distance of 2 to 20 mm to an edge seal or seal edge seal, above the filling space, in a width of, for example, 5 to 50 mm, advantageously 5 to 20 mm.
- the film-shaped composite material is multi-layer, for example two, three, four, etc. layers.
- the individual layers of material can be lacquer applications, foils made of metals, metallized layers or foils made of plastics, in particular thermoplastic plastics or composites made of metal foils and plastic foils.
- One or more layers of material can be extruded and, in particular, melt-extruded, layers or films made of thermoplastic materials, sometimes in combination with films made of metals or plastics.
- At least one layer of material can apply a varnish, such as a clear varnish, a marking, a hot melt coating, etc.
- At least one layer of material can be a metallized layer or a ceramic thin layer deposited from the vacuum.
- Adhesives, extrusion adhesive, adhesion promoters and / or primers can be located between the individual layers.
- the surfaces of the films, layers or. Material layers, for example a corona, flame, ozone or plasma treatment.
- the layers of thermoplastic material can be transparent, translucent or opaque.
- the material layer, film or layer on the outside of a packaging can have printing.
- a transparent or translucent outer material layer, film or layer a counter print or an external print and a counter print can be applied.
- steel foils and preferably aluminum foils are used as foils made of metal.
- the thickness of the films can be, for example, from 5 to 100 ⁇ m, preferably from 8 to 30 ⁇ m.
- Suitable films made of plastics are expediently made of thermoplastic plastics, such as polyesters, polyolefins, such as polypropylenes or polyethylenes, polyamides, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, etc., or of cellulose-containing materials, such as cellophane.
- the films made of plastic can be in the form of monofilms or film composites.
- the thickness of the plastic films can be, for example, from 8 to 100 ⁇ m, preferably from 12 to 30 ⁇ m and in particular from 12 to 23 ⁇ m.
- Extruded or melt-extruded layers can, for example, be made of polyolefins, such as polypropylenes or polyethylenes.
- the thickness of the extrudates can be, for example, from 8 to 100 ⁇ m, preferably from 12 to 30 ⁇ m and in particular from 12 to 23 ⁇ m.
- the side of the composite material facing inwards on a packaging is advantageously sealable.
- the outward-facing side of the composite material can also be sealable.
- Examples of a multilayer composite are composites containing a first layer of material and a second layer of material.
- the first layer of material can be a film, such as a mono- or composite film, made of thermoplastics, such as polyesters, polyolefins, such as polypropylenes or polyethylenes, polyamides, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, etc., or of cellulose-containing materials, such as cellophane or papers.
- the film can on the the finished packaging is printed on the outside and / or counter printed.
- the second layer of material can be, for example, a metal foil or a metal foil with a sealing layer or sealable foil attached to the side facing inwards on the finished packaging.
- the second material layer can be a sealable film made of thermoplastic material or an extrusion layer made of a thermoplastic material, which is preferably sealable.
- papers for example coated papers, can also be used as the second material layer.
- lacquer layers or lacquer applications can also be used as the second material layer.
- the varnishes can be clear, opaque and colorless or colored.
- the composite material can have barrier properties against the passage of liquids, gases, vapors, water vapor, aromas or odorous substances, etc.
- metal foils for example made of aluminum
- ceramic thin layers for example made of silicon oxides and / or aluminum oxide, which are applied by sputtering or by deposition from a vacuum
- plastic foils for example, made from materials from the series of styrene copolymers , the ethyl vinyl alcohol polymer or the polyvinylidene chloride are used.
- sealable materials for the films or extrudates are polyolefins, such as polyethylenes, polypropylenes or copolymers and terpolymers of ethylene with acrylic acid. The sealability of the composite material can also be achieved by applying a sealing lacquer.
- the following composite materials can be produced, for example, from the material layers mentioned, the material layers being bonded to one another occasionally by means of adhesives, adhesion promoters and / or the primers, or the second material layer being applied to the first material layer by extrusion, such as melt extrusion:
- first layer of material from ai) optionally printing; a 2 ) film of polyesters, polyolefins such as polypropylenes or polyethylenes, polyamides, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, etc .; a 3 ) optionally a counter print;
- second layer of material made of a polyolefin layer and in particular a polypropylene layer, e.g. in a thickness of up to 100 ⁇ m, preferably from 50 to 80 ⁇ m;
- first layer of material from a optionally a printing a) film made of polyesters, such as polyethylene terephthalate, a 3 ) optionally a reverse printing
- second layer of material made from a film of polyolefins, such as polyethylenes;
- the counter pressure a 3 can simultaneously represent the second material layer.
- the composite material has weakened zones in at least one material layer of the composite material.
- the weakened zones are preferably provided on the first material layer of the composite material. It is also possible to provide the weakened zones on the second material layer or on the first and second material layers of the composite material. In the latter case, it is advantageous that the weakened zones of the first layer of material and the second layer of material on the composite material are not arranged one above the other, but offset to one another.
- Weakened zones can be, for example, material weakenings, such as material thinning, material removal or notches in the material, or cuts in the form of a single cut or a sequence of cuts, in particular in a parallel arrangement, or in the form of perforations, etc.
- Cut sequences or a large number of individual cuts in a parallel arrangement are particularly preferred as weakened zones.
- the cutting direction advantageously runs in the tear direction.
- the distances between the cuts can be, for example, 0.1 to 1 mm
- the length of the cuts 1 to 50 mm and the number of cuts per weakened zone can be 2 to 50.
- the weakened zones can only be located above the filling space of a packaging or can be located above the filling space and extend to within a sealed edge or side seam.
- the layer of material or layers of material with the weakened zones advantageously represents an outer or outward-facing layer of the composite material on a packaging.
- the present invention also relates to a method of attaching the weakened zones to the composite material.
- the composite material is produced by providing the first layer of material, occasionally printing on one or both sides of the first layer of material and at the same time attaching the weakened zones in the register. Suitable printing processes are, for example, book, offset, flexographic, screen and copper gravure printing. In the area of the printing machine, before, between two ink jobs or after the ink application the first layer of material will be weakened.
- the weakened zones can be created by applying weakenings or cuts. This can be done mechanically, for example by knives such as oscillating knives, rotating knives attached to a cylinder, punching knives or needles etc.
- the weakenings are applied to the first material layer in the register, ie synchronously with the printing. This enables precise alignment of the weakening, at the same time as the exact alignment of the printing on the packaging material. It is also possible to carry out the weakening at the beginning or in the course of the printing ink application or before any lacquer or protective lacquer application that may be provided. The weakening is then covered by the printing inks and / or the lacquer or protective lacquer. In this way, a barrier effect against the exchange of moisture, gases, etc. is achieved, for example, by opening a perforation or a cut. At the same time, the weakened zone can be stabilized with regard to the tear strength without making the intended tearing difficult.
- the printing and weakening processes are preferably carried out continuously on continuous or roll goods, and the treatment of sheets or sheets is also possible.
- the first material layer and the provided second material layer are brought together, preferably continuously, and connected to one another.
- the first layer of material and the second layer of material as continuous goods can be bonded to one another, for example, by lamination or by gluing the two layers of material together using an extrusion lamination or an adhesive.
- lacquer laminating adhesives, adhesion promoters and / or primers can be used.
- the second layer of material can also be applied to the first layer of material by coating or extrusion, a thermoplastic, for example high-pressure polyethylene, being melted under pressure and heat and pressed onto a surface of the first layer of material as a thin film.
- a thermoplastic for example high-pressure polyethylene
- the lacquers can be used as the second layer of material in quantities of, for example, 0.5 to 50 g / m 2 , preferably 1.0 to 25 g / m 2 , for example by casting, spraying, knife coating, smoothing. Roller application etc. are applied to the first layer of material already provided with weakened zones.
- the lacquers can be solvent-based and can be dried or cured by evaporating the solvent, or the lacquers can be energy-rich Radiation can be hardened.
- Lacquers which can be used are, for example, those based on acrylate or methacrylate, or lacquers from the series containing polyesters, epoxies, cellulose nitrates, polyvinyl chlorides, polyvinyl butyrals or mixtures thereof.
- the composite material produced in this way can be introduced, for example in endless or roll form, into a packaging machine and used for packaging filling goods. Due to the manufacturing method according to the invention, the printing and the weakened zones on the composite material lie in an invariable position with respect to one another.
- High-quality packaging units are characterized by the fact that the printing is always positioned in the same way as the packaging size and in relation to the contents. Thus, when using existing composite material, the weakened zones are always in the same place in each packaging unit in accordance with the printing.
- Typical packaging units are, for example, polygonal and in particular rectangular in plan view. In cross section, the packaging units can be round or polygonal and in particular rectangular.
- the weakened zones are located, for example, in the area of the side edges and, in the case of elongated packaging units, in the area of one of the two longitudinal ends. In relation to the cross-section of the packaging unit, the weakened zones are expediently located on one or both side edges. If there are places on a packaging unit at which the packaging material lies on top of one another in several layers of material due to folding or gluing, there is preferably a weakened zone in that area at least in one layer of material. In the case of packaging units with a fuselage seam, there can be at least one weakened zone in the area of this fuselage seam. On packaging units with a fuselage seam, for example, several weakened zones can be located on a line in the area of one of the two longitudinal ends on one or both side edges and in the area of the fuselage seam.
