Definitions
- the invention relates to a nozzle for the drying zone of a glass sheet washing machine, which optionally extends obliquely to the direction of movement of the glass sheet to be cleaned or dried in a plane parallel to the plane of the glass sheet transversely to the direction of movement and whose air outlet opening faces the glass sheet and preferably forms an acute angle therewith includes and is designed as a slot or as a series of openings.
- Such nozzles are known, in which context reference is made, for example, to EP-A-0 213 532.
- a disadvantage of the known nozzles is that their air outlet openings, which are generally designed as a slit running through the entire length of the nozzle, continuously over the entire air outlet cross-section, i.e. Air escapes over the entire height of the nozzle. Since the glass washing machines and also their drying zone are designed for processing the largest occurring window formats, the nozzles in the drying zone usually have a length extension of approximately 3 m measured transversely to the direction of movement of the glass plates.
- the invention has for its object to develop a nozzle of the type mentioned in such a way that the unused outflow of air from the air outlet opening of the nozzle is avoided without impairing the drying effect.
- the air outlet opening of the nozzle is assigned at least one closure member which, in its operative position, closes an area of the air outlet opening which is arranged at a distance from the conveying member for the glass sheet in the region of the drying zone.
- the effective length of the air outlet opening i.e. the area of the air outlet opening from which air actually emerges is adapted to the actual height of the glass sheet to be dried.
- the closure member is provided over half the length of the air outlet opening.
- the closure member can be continuous or divided, with a continuous closure member being preferred in the embodiment according to claim 2.
- an embodiment of the invention has proven itself, according to which a sensor is provided which detects the height of the glass sheet to be dried and which emits a corresponding signal to the control of the drive for the closure members. So that the dimension of the air outlet opening is automatically adapted to the dimension of the glass sheet to be dried, so that air losses and unnecessary blower performance are avoided.
- a plurality of closure members are assigned to the air outlet opening.
- This embodiment is preferably also characterized in that when the closure member is in its operative position and is arranged at a distance from the upper end of the air outlet opening, all the closure members arranged above this closure member are also in their operative position.
- the closure member is arranged in the interior of the preferably cylindrical nozzle, as is known per se. This arrangement of the closure member does not interfere with the usual execution of the drying zone of a glass sheet washing machine. It can also be provided according to the invention that the closure member has a preferably approximately cylindrical closure body which can be placed from the inside against the air outlet opening. It is preferred that the closure body of the closure member is made of an elastically deformable material, e.g. Foam rubber or foam plastic.
- the closure body of the closure member is equipped with a drive motor, e.g. a pressure medium motor is coupled, which is arranged outside the nozzle.
- a drive motor e.g. a pressure medium motor is coupled, which is arranged outside the nozzle.
- the invention also extends to a device for cleaning and drying glass sheets, in the drying zone of which at least one pair of opposing nozzles according to one of claims 1 to 9 are provided.
- This device is characterized in that the speed of the glass sheet through the Vorrich device moving conveying device is increased at least in the region of the drying zone with air outlet openings partially closed by the closure member compared to the conveying speed when the air outlet openings are fully open.
- the drive speed of the cleaning brushes is increased in the case of air outlet openings partially closed by the closure member and, if appropriate, the supply of cleaning liquid and possibly rinsing liquid compared to the state when the air outlet openings are fully open.
- the speed increase which are provided when using the nozzle according to the invention in a cleaning device for glass panels, is possible without disadvantage to the drying effect if a fan is provided which conveys filtered and optionally dried air to the nozzles, and that the performance of the fan increases conveyed air is unchanged with partially closed air outlet openings of the nozzles.
- FIG. 1 shows a largely schematic and top view of a glass sheet washing machine with a drying zone
- FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II in FIG. 1
- FIG. 3 shows a section along the line III-III in FIG. 2.
- a device 1 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 for cleaning and drying glass sheets is in a cleaning process zone 2 and a drying zone 3 divided.
- the glass sheets to be cleaned and dried are moved in the direction of arrow 4 on rollers 5 of a conveying device standing up through device 1.
- the conveyor device can also be designed as described and shown in EP-A-0 174 294.
- round brushes 6 and 7 are shown in the cleaning zone 2, which are driven in rotation about essentially vertical axes.
- the round brushes are assigned nozzles (not shown) for the supply of cleaning or rinsing liquid.
- band brushes cf. EP-A-0 204 063 can also be provided.
- Vertical rollers 8 are provided in front of and behind and between the round brushes 6 and 7, respectively, which are driven in rotation and support the transport of the glass sheets through the device 1 (these rollers can be omitted if the conveyor device is designed in accordance with EP-A-0 174 294 ).
- the drying zone 3 is provided in the device 1, which has two nozzles 10 which extend obliquely to the conveying direction 4 in a plane parallel to the conveying plane from bottom to top.
- the area swept by the nozzles 10 is, for example, 3 m in the height direction.
- Each nozzle 10 of the oppositely arranged pair of nozzles 10 has an air outlet opening in the form of a longitudinal slot 11, from which air, which is supplied to the nozzles 10 from a blower, not shown, via lines, not shown, is blown obliquely onto the glass sheet to be dried, whereby the air flow is inclined against the direction of movement 4.
- the device 1 also includes a housing 9, the Rei cleaning zone 2 and the drying zone 3 in itself.
- the inlet and outlet openings of the housing 9 can be designed as also described in EP-A-0 174 294.
- an intermediate wall equipped with a closure member known from EP-A-0 174 294 can be provided.
- Fig. 3 shows a closure member 12 which is provided in the interior of the nozzle 10.
- the closure member 12 has a closure body 13 which is adjustably connected via a bracket 14 by a screw connection to the piston rod 15 of an actuating cylinder 16, which is arranged outside the nozzle 10 and connected to the latter via a nozzle 17.
- the closure body 13 of the closure member 12 is made of resilient material and can for example consist of foam rubber (foam rubber) or foam plastic or be formed by an elastically resilient, pressurized hollow body.
- the closure body 13 of the closure member 12 can be withdrawn from the operative position shown in FIG. 3, in which it closes the air outlet opening 11 of the nozzle 10, into a rest position which releases the air outlet opening 11.
- the air outlet opening 11 of the nozzle 10 is assigned a plurality of closure members 12 which can be operated independently of one another. It is further preferred that the closure members are located in the upper region of the nozzle 10, i.e. are in their area away from the conveyor 5.
- a closure member 12 is provided with a continuous closure body 13 (to actuate it NEN several pressure medium cylinders 16 are also provided), this extends preferably over the upper half of the air outlet opening 11, so that when the closure member 12 is in its operative position, air can only escape from the lower half of the nozzle 10, so that only the most common glass formats (height about 1.4 to 1.5 m) are coated with air for drying.
- a plurality of independently operable closure members 12 are provided in the nozzle 10, then these are preferably switched so that all the closure members 12 arranged above a closure member 12 in its operative position are also in their position closing the air outlet opening 11. This ensures that no air flows out of the nozzle 10 above the glass sheet to be dried.
- a sensor 18 responsive to the upper edge of a glass sheet can be moved up and down on a guide 19 in the device.
- the sensor 18 adjusts itself according to the height of the upper edge of the glass sheet and emits a signal corresponding to its position to the control of the drive cylinder 16 for the closure members 12, whereupon all the closure members 12 located in the area above the determined height are closed.
- the air outlet openings 11 of the nozzles 10 according to the invention are partially closed in their operative position by introducing closure members 12, then it is useful if the performance of the blower is not reduced. As a result, more air flows through the unclosed part of the air outlet opening 11 of the nozzle 10 in the time unit, so that it has a higher rate Speed emerges and the drying effect is increased. This makes it possible to move a glass sheet through the drying zone 3 more quickly than hitherto when air flows unused from regions of the air outlet openings 11 located above the upper edge of the glass sheet.
- the increase in the speed for moving the glass sheet in the direction of arrow 4 can also be controlled by the sensor 18 as a function of the detected altitude. Speed increases of up to 40% are possible if the air outlet openings of the nozzles 10 are half closed.
- the conveying speed can also be increased in this area and, for example, the speed of the cleaning brushes 6 and 7 and the conveying devices 5, 8 from the currently usual 12 m / sec in the above mentioned extent can be increased.
Abstract
