- a dampening unit is known from US Pat. No. 3,673,959 in which an application roller is mounted in levers which can be pivoted about frame bolts for the purpose of parking the application roller and are actuated for this purpose by pneumatic cylinders. Shields are mounted on both sides of the tenon of the applicator roller, each of which receives a rubbing roller and an intermediate roller in contact with the applicator roller. The intermediate roller also has contact with a roller that guides the dampening solution. To switch to a washing position, the intermediate roller can be pivoted to an inking roller when the friction roller is removed. Two additional working cylinders are required to pivot the shields. In addition, the dampening unit cannot transport cleaning fluid into the inking unit.
