Definitions
- the invention relates to a folding wall for bathtubs, shower trays or the like.
- the wall elements on the adjacent longitudinal sides in the upper and lower corner area being pivotally connected to one another via hinges and, if appropriate, the gap between the wall elements by means of a continuous seal is sealed, each hinge each having a partially circular tooth segment connected to a wall element, lying in a plane perpendicular to the main plane of the wall elements, and a connecting double plate, the toothed segments meshing with one another and the connecting double plate around pivot axes lying in the respective centers of the circle of the toothed segments is pivotally connected to the two wall elements and thus keeps the tooth segments in mesh with one another.
- Folding walls for bathtubs, shower trays or the like have long been known in various embodiments (DE-GM 76 12 664, DE-PS 29 11 728, DE-GM 83 23 451).
- Such a folding wall is usually constructed from two or three wall elements pivotally connected to one another, each consisting of vertical and horizontal frame elements, the corner connectors connecting the frame elements in the corner regions and a shielding plate used in the frame formed from frame elements and corner connectors.
- the frame elements are often designed as aluminum profiles, but sometimes also as plastic profiles, the corner connectors are mostly made of plastic, in particular thermoplastic, and the shielding plate is in most cases made of thermoplastic or synthetic glass, rarely because of the weight, made of natural glass.
- a wall element of such a folding wall is usually pivotably articulated on a wall of a bathroom or the like by means of a corresponding wall connection element. If the folding wall is not used, it can be swiveled onto the wall of the bathroom or the like in a space-saving manner, the wall elements being foldable by mutual pivoting.
- the wall elements always take a precisely predetermined angle to the connecting double flap under the action of the intermeshing toothed segments of the mutually associated hinges, that is to say they perform a pivoting movement and a virtual pivot axis.
- the length of the connecting double strap is dimensioned so that the wall elements can ultimately be pivoted parallel to each other.
- the hinges are usually designed for a swivel angle of 180 °, in order not to squeeze or overstretch a seal which may seal the gap between the wall elements.
- this limits the folding possibilities of the folding wall for example in the case of a three-part one.
- Folding wall the outermost wall element can only be folded back inwards, but not to a certain extent outwards, onto the middle wall element.
- the hinges of the known folding walls equipped with toothed segments are of a complex structure and are therefore prone to failure and expensive.
- the invention is based on the object of specifying a functionally optimal hinge construction which is suitable for pivoting angles of up to 360 °, but nevertheless simple and inexpensive, in the case of a folding wall for bathtubs, shower trays or the like, with at least two wall elements.
- each part-circular toothed segment only has to be extended to both sides of the main plane over an angle of somewhat more than 90 ° in order to ensure that the wall elements can be swiveled 360 ° relative to one another in a completely informal manner and without any particular design effort. If there is a sufficient gap between the wall elements, there is no need to fear an overstretching or crushing of a continuous seal.
- the seal can also have a relatively wide sweeping arc to the inside of the folding wall, so that an optimal seal in all positions is connected with a safe drainage of water into the tub.
- FIG. 1 shows, as an application example of a folding wall 1 according to the invention, a bathroom with a bathtub 2 in an alcove delimited by walls 3.
- the folding wall 1 shown here has three wall elements 4.
- a wall element 4 consists of vertical frame elements 5, horizontal frame elements 6, corner connectors 7 connecting frame elements 5, 6 in the corner regions, and one in frame elements 5 , 6 and the corner connectors 7 formed frame used shielding plate 8.
- the frame elements 5, 6 are designed as aluminum profiles, in particular aluminum hollow profiles
- the corner connectors 7 are made of thermoplastic material
- the shielding plate 8 is made of thermoplastic material .
- FIG. 1 shows that in the folding wall 1 shown here, a wall connection element 9 corresponding to a vertical frame element 5 of a wall element 4 is provided in the usual manner for connection to a wall 3. On this wall connection element 9, a wall element 4 is pivotally articulated.
- the wall element 4 are pivotally connected to one another on the adjoining longitudinal sides in the upper and lower corner area via hinges 10.
- the drawing does not show, but it may be possible that the gap between the wall elements 4 is sealed by means of a continuous seal.
- each hinge 10 has a part-circular toothed segment 11 connected to a wall element 4, in a plane perpendicular to the main plane of the wall elements 4, as well as a connecting double plate 12.
- 2 and 3 show very clearly that the toothed segments 11 are in meshing engagement with one another, the connecting double plate 12 being pivotally connected to the two wall elements 4 about pivot axes lying in the respective centers of the circles of the toothed segments 11 and thus keeping the toothed segments 11 in meshing engagement with one another .
- the meshing engagement of the toothed segments 11 leads to the fact that the wall elements 4 when swiveling results in a virtual swivel axis, so that the wall elements 4 can be swiveled parallel next to one another without further notice.
- each part-circular tooth segment 11 is designed such that it extends from the main plane of the wall element 4 to both sides of the main plane over an angle of somewhat more than 90 °.
- the two wall elements 4, which are connected to one another via the hinges 10 with the tooth segments 11 designed in this way, can be pivoted relative to one another on both sides of the main plane through an angle of 180 °.
- a swivel angle of 360 ° between the two wall elements 4 connected to one another is thus ensured.
- each toothed segment 11 be formed in one piece in the corner area on the corresponding wall element 4.
- the wall element 4 is a wall element with a plastic frame that is closed on all sides, the toothed segment 11 can be easily formed on the frame itself.
- it is a wall element 4 composed of frame elements 5, 6 and corner connectors 7 and a shielding plate 8, then it is advisable to form the toothed segment 11 on the corner connector 7 in one piece.
- the corner connector 7 is usually made of plastic, in particular thermoplastic, so that the toothed segment 11 can be integrally molded or molded here without great difficulty. In contrast to the hinge constructions of the prior art constructed from many individual parts, this is the prerequisite for a hinge construction which is very simple according to the invention.
- FIG. 6 in a top view of the connecting double strap 12, according to the preferred teaching, it has two part-circular end regions 14 and a short, straight connecting region 15.
- Fig. 2 shows that in the assembled state, the connecting double plate 12 is in the recess 13 above the two tooth segments 11. This applies to a hinge 10 located in the upper corner area, conversely the arrangement is expedient for a hinge 10 located in the lower corner area.
- Fig. 5 shows in connection with Fig. 9 that according to preferred teaching, the toothed segment 11 has an insertion opening 16 in the center of the circle and that a pivot pin 17 forming the pivot axis for the connecting double bracket 12 can be inserted, pressed in or screwed into the insertion opening 16.
- the term insertion opening 16 is therefore only to be understood functionally, the insertion opening 16 could also be a threaded hole or the like.
- Fig. 7 and Fig. 9 show in connection that in the preferred embodiment shown here, the pivot pin 17 is provided at the end with resiliently snapping barbs 18 and, preferably, in the region of the barbs 18 is provided with spring slots 19 extending in the longitudinal direction.
- the pivot pin 17 consists of elastic, in particular thermoplastic.
- the pivot pin 17 can be firmly connected to the corner connector 7.
- the pivot pin itself can also be integrally formed on the corner connector 7, for example protrude upward in FIGS. 4 and 9, so that the connecting double tab 12 would only have to be set up from above on the pivot pin 17.
- the connecting double bracket 12 could in turn be provided with integral, downwardly projecting pivot pin 17, so that the desired swivel connection would be produced by simply snapping the connecting double bracket 12 onto the toothed segments 11.
- a particularly expedient connection which can be particularly highly resilient with simple means, can be created if the pivot pin 17 is attached or shaped to a hammer head-like, preferably approximately circular latching head 21 and if the pivoting double pin 12 is inserted between the toothed segment 11 and that when the pivot pin 17 is inserted corresponding locking head 21 is located.
- This arrangement can be seen very well in FIG. 2 for both parts of the hinge 10.
- Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 it can also be clearly seen that in the corner area, in particular in the corner connector 7 shown here, above (or below) the recess 13 for the connecting double bracket 12, a further recess 22 is provided for the locking head 21.
- the recess 13 continues into the recess 22 with the same size and contour, but this need not always be the case.
- an alternative design of the locking head 21 is shown, by means of which the maximum surface pressures on the toothed segments 11 of adjacent wall elements 4 are considerably reduced.
- This construction is characterized in that the locking head 21 is designed as a part-circular tooth segment extending from the main plane of the wall element 4 to both sides over an angle of slightly more than 90 °, and in that way the locking heads 21 of adjacent wall elements 4 are connected to one another Combing stand.
- the locking heads 21 of adjacent wall elements are also used as toothed segments for power transmission when swiveling.
- the mechanical resilience is further increased considerably in that the latching head 21 itself can be connected to the corner area, in particular the corner connector 7.
- This independent connection of the locking head 21 with the corner connector 7 can of course be realized in very different ways.
- the locking head 21 could simply be screwed to the corner connector 7 itself.
- the locking head 21 has a laterally projecting connecting part 23 for connection to the corner region, in particular the corner connector 7. 7 and 8 show this very clearly.
- the connecting part 23 to the corner connector 7 there are again many possibilities which depend on the shape and size of the connecting part 23.
- the connecting part 23 has a straight connecting region 24 protruding from the latching head 21 and a subsequent end region 25 which is expanded in the form of a part circle.
- the design of the corner connector 7 corresponds to this design of the connecting part 23 on the locking head 21, which can be seen in FIG. 5 and is characterized in that in the main plane of the wall element 4 on the side of the recess 22 facing away from the longitudinal side for the locking head 21 a connecting recess 26 adapted in shape to the connecting part 23 of the locking head 21 is provided for receiving the connecting part 23 of the locking head 21.
- FIGS. 5 and 8 makes it clear that the connecting part 23 can be inserted with a precise fit into the connecting recess 26 from above.
- the final state of the completed hinge 10 can be seen in FIG. 2, but also in FIG. 9.
- FIGS. 10 and 11 show an alternative solution for the design of the connecting part 23 with respect to the corner connector 7, which is characterized in that the connecting part 23 protrudes straight from the locking head 21 and has a push-through opening 28 for a fastening screw or the like, and preferably, that on the connecting part 23, preferably around the push-through opening 28, a plug element 29 is arranged and in a corresponding Jack on the corner connector 7 is inserted by clamping.
- This design corresponds in particular to the toothed segment design of the locking head 21, which has been described above.
- This toothed segment design in fact requires the latching head 21 to be connected as firmly as possible to the corner connector 7. This requirement is met even better in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 10 and 11 than in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 8.
- the socket on the corner connector 7, which is not shown here, serves to clamp the plug-in element 29 and thus the exact pre-positioning of the locking head 21. Then the fastening screw, not shown, is then inserted through the through-opening 28 and screwed into a screw socket either in the corner connector 7 or in the corresponding frame element.
- the production of the individual parts is very inexpensive
- the assembly of the folding wall 1 is extremely simple.
- the two wall elements 4 need to be arranged next to one another as shown in FIG. 2.
- the position of the wall elements 4 can be specified in advance by the tooth segments 11 which are in engagement with one another.
- the connecting double strap 12 has to be inserted from above into the contoured recesses 13 in the two corner connectors 7.
- the two locking heads 21 with the downwardly projecting pivot pins 17 are plugged on from above until the barbs 18 of the pivot pins 17 snap into the recesses 20 of the corner connector 7.
- FIG. 9 Another special feature of the construction according to the invention can now be seen in FIG. 9. It applies here that the corner connector 7 can be connected to a vertical frame element 5 of the wall element 4 by a fastening screw or the like directed parallel to the frame element 5, that the corner connector 7 has a preferably countersunk push-through opening 27 in the connecting recess 26 and that the push-through opening 27 of the connecting part 23 of the locking head 21 can be covered.
- the locking head 21 provided for another reason with the connecting part 23 thus serves at the same time the optically elegant covering of the fastening screw inserted into the push-through opening 27 and screwed into the frame element 5. It is without doubt a particularly elegant solution in terms of design. At the same time, this solution is also useful because only smooth surfaces are provided on the top of the hinge 10, which are therefore easy to clean.
- detents for essential angular positions of the wall elements with respect to one another, in particular for the angular positions 0, between the double connecting strap and the corner regions or corner connectors and / or tooth segments and / or the latching heads °, ⁇ 90 °, ⁇ 180 °, are provided.
- Such detents can be realized by rounded groove / cam connections or corresponding groove / bar connections.
- spherical segment-shaped cams arranged at a distance of 90 ° in each case and spherical-shell-shaped grooves arranged in a correspondingly distributed manner in the corner connector can be provided for each circular region of the connecting double strap 4.
- the wall connection element 9 is provided with end caps 30 and that the end caps 30, with the exception of the connection option for a horizontal frame element, correspond constructively to the corner connectors 7.
- the corner connectors 7 and / or the end caps 30 consist of plastic, in particular a thermoplastic.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 6 in Draufsicht eine Verbindungsdoppellasche,
- Fig. 8 den Rastkopf aus Fig. 7 in Draufsicht,
- Fig. 11 den Rastkopf aus Fig. 10 in Draufsicht.
