Definitions
- the invention relates to a transferable jewelry lock with attached various necklaces or ribbons, the end loops of which are adapted to the jewelry lock, the jewelry lock being formed in two parts and the two parts being connected by a hinge and enclosing a round or differently shaped central opening and by means of a the hinge opposite side are connected by a snap lock.
- a necklace on which a piece of jewelry is worn is usually provided with a lock for connecting the chain ends.
- this lock often slips forward and this looks ugly.
- a beautiful chain would also come into its own if it were connected to the piece of jewelry in another way.
- the piece of jewelry itself is designed as a jewelry lock.
- a separate chain lock can be omitted and the piece of jewelry thus formed can be held by eyelets at the chain ends.
- the piece of jewelry itself also serves as a lock for the chain.
- a piece of jewelry designed in this way can then be worn with various chains or ribbons.
- the invention has set itself the task of creating a jewelry lock that meets the following requirements:
- DE-C 377 488 has disclosed special means which are intended to prevent the chain from being detached when the lock is open. This closure can therefore not meet the requirement mentioned under point 2.
- it is a simple spring ring lock that is firmly connected to a chain end. It is a simple commodity that has nothing in common with a piece of jewelry.
- the invention solves this problem with a transferable jewelry lock according to the preamble of claim 1, the piece of jewelry having the features mentioned in the part of claim 1.
- the jewelry lock 1 which is simplified and shown on a larger scale in FIG. 1, is ring-shaped and comprises an upper part 2 and a lower part 3, which are pivotally connected to one another by a hinge pin 4. On the side diametrically opposite the hinge, a snap closure 5 is attached, which is explained in more detail with reference to FIG. 2.
- the designations upper and lower part refer to the position that the jewelry lock takes when it is hanging on the chain or on the belt.
- the upper part 2 is provided with two inwardly projecting cams 6, 6 ', one is located adjacent to the separation point between the upper and the lower part, the second 6' on the hinge side.
- Figure 1 it can be seen how the end eyelet 7 of a chain 8 can be applied to the upper half 2.
- the eyelet must first be brought over the cam 6 and can then be pivoted in the direction of the arrow R.
- the position of the eyelet differs greatly from that when worn, but is the only possible position for attaching the eyelet to the upper part if the dimensions are correct.
- the width x of the cam must not be too large, since otherwise the inside diameter D would have to be made so large that this would render the safeguard against unintentional detachment null.
- the correct dimensioning of the eyelets ensures that even if the jewelry lock opens unintentionally when worn, it cannot detach from the chain.
- the upper jewelry lock half 2 is provided with a second cam 6 ', which ensures that the eyelets 7 and 7' always remain in the area of the upper half. Thereby there is no risk of losing the jewelry lock when you are wearing it. It should also be noted that the chain itself no longer needs a lock!
- Figures 2-4 show the same ring-shaped jewelry lock on a smaller scale.
- a possible embodiment of the snap lock is shown in these figures.
- a resilient pin 52 is attached, which has a notch 53.
- the free end of the pin with the notch engages in a wide bore 21 of the upper part 2 in the closed state and snaps behind a locking projection.
- Such a projection can be produced, for example, by a small bolt 22 inserted into a transverse bore, as shown in FIG. 4.
- FIG. 5-9 show some possible embodiments of jewelry locks with an attached chain, approximately in natural size.
- three ring-shaped jewelry locks which are each to be opened are connected by double rings. This enables the wearer to attach one or more of these jewelry locks to the same chain.
- Such a double ring and a single jewelry lock are shown for themselves at the bottom in FIG.
- the arrows S and T indicate the seam of the hinge S and the separation point T of the two halves.
- the direction of the arrows coincides with the direction of the joints, which are hardly recognizable in the closed state.
- the two cams 6, 6 ' are clearly recognizable, but are not provided with reference numerals in order not to overload the drawing.
- FIG. 6 shows a heart-shaped jewelry lock with chain, according to the invention.
- hinge S and separation point T are indicated by arrows in the direction and position.
- Figures 7, 8 and 9 show further variants.
- FIG. 7 shows a jewelry lock that closes a single chain
- FIG. 9 shows the same jewelry lock, but as a closure for a double-row pearl necklace.
- the pearl necklace is divided into two separate chains, each with its own eyelets. This enables the wearer to wear the jewelry lock with a single or a double chain.
- Figure 10 finally shows a modern band, the end of which is provided with an eyelet 10.
- the eyelet is dimensioned accordingly with the jewelry lock to be connected to it, so that the eyelet can only be attached to the upper part of the jewelry lock in a position that deviates from the carrying direction.
- FIGS. 2-4 The production of a concealed snap lock according to FIGS. 2-4 is explained with reference to FIGS. 11a-c.
- the holes 51 and 21 are first made in the jewelry halves 2 and 3. In the case of a ring-shaped jewelry clasp, these run approximately tangentially.
- the bore 51 which is to receive the spring pin, is deeper than the bore 21 with the locking bolt 22.
- a spring pin 52 with a thickened lower end 54 is now inserted into the deeper bore 51 and pinned and soldered in the correct position with pin 55 (FIG 11 b).
- the general structure corresponds to that according to FIG. 1.
- the jewelry lock again consists of an upper half 20 and a lower half 30, which are hinged together by a bolt 40.
- the simplification is that the spring part 60 of the closure is provided with cams 61, 61 '.
- the spring part (60) lies in a groove 201 of the upper part 20 and in the assembled state only the two cams 61, 61 'protrude from the groove.
- the spring part 60 is flat so that it finds a guide in the groove.
- the two ends 62 and 63 are widened, while the narrow part 64 in between forms the actual spring.
- the widened part 62 is shaped such that it lies against the base of the groove 201 in the assembled state.
- the widened end 63 also lies on the base of the groove 201, possibly with little tension.
- This end is not only provided with a cam 61, but also with a slightly rounded hook 65. When the jewelry clasp is open, this hook protrudes from the upper half 20.
- the lower half 30 of the jewelry clasp is also provided with a groove 301 which has a bore near the separation point, into which a pin 302 is inserted. If the two halves 20, 30 are closed, the spring part bends a little in the direction of arrow B (FIG. 14), the hook 65 snaps behind the pin 302 and the jewelry clasp remains closed.
- the effect of the two cams 61, 61 ' is the same as that described above with reference to FIG. 1. Even if the jewelry clasp unintentionally loosens when worn, it remains attached to the eyes of the chain thanks to the cams 61, 61'. The prerequisite for this is, of course, that these eyelets, as also described above, are of the correct size.
