Definitions

  • the invention relates to folding furniture according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • Folding furniture according to the preamble of the claim is known from US-A-2 294 340.
  • the front pair of legs is articulated directly on a device projecting downwards and the rear pair of legs can be moved in a guide groove by means of additional guide lugs with inserted guide pins.
  • the seat angle cannot be adjusted.
  • US Pat. No. 2,824,600 describes a folding piece of furniture in which latching grooves are formed on the underside of the seat surface, as a result of which the height of the chair, in particular the height of the seat surface the chair is adjustable. An inclination adjustment of the seat can not be achieved.
  • the invention has for its object to improve a folding furniture of the type mentioned in such a way that the inclination of the seat is adjustable, and the folding furniture can be folded as compact as possible for storage purposes.
  • the folding furniture or the folding stool has the advantage that its seat is easily adjustable in terms of inclination and, despite this adjustability, the folding furniture has the smallest space requirement when folded.
  • the seat is advantageously completely between the pairs of legs parallel to each other.
  • the pair of legs which can be latched in different grooves is firmly locked, so that folding of the folding furniture is prevented by inadvertent displacement or touch.
  • the folding furniture can advantageously be made of wood and requires a comparatively small number of parts. Furthermore, the folding furniture can be designed to be used as seating with a backrest by simply placing a backrest.
  • the folding furniture according to the invention hereinafter referred to as a folding stool, has, as usual, a seat designated by 1 and two pairs of legs.
  • the legs of the one pair of legs, preferably the front pair, are denoted by 3 in FIG.
  • the mutually associated legs 2, 3 of the two pairs of legs are, as can be seen from FIG. 1, rotatably connected to one another by a joint 4, preferably in the form of a hinge.
  • a joint 4 preferably in the form of a hinge.
  • the axis of rotation of the two legs 2, 3 assigned to one another is defined by a bearing pin 5 of the joint 4, so that in this embodiment the axis of rotation or swivel axis between each leg 2, 3 at its upper end is set.
  • a stabilizing cross strut 7 or 8 is provided between each pair of legs.
  • a device designated 10 is provided, which according to a preferred embodiment consists of a pair of plates 10.
  • Each plate 10 is preferably attached to the side frame 11 of the seat 1 and has a bearing sleeve 12 which serves to receive a bearing pin or a lens screw 13 and in the latter case is provided with an internal thread for holding the screw.
  • An external thread of the bearing sleeve serves for its fixed arrangement in the associated bore (not designated) of the respective plate 10.
  • the head of the screw 13 overlaps the associated bore in the leg 2, the screw 13 runs through the leg 2 and is in the sleeve 12 screwed, which sits firmly in the plate 10.
  • the screw can be screwed into and out of the sleeve 12. It is also possible to use any other bearing device which enables a rotational movement between the leg 2 and the plate 10 and which in the assembled state causes the legs 2 to move laterally from the plates 10 prevented away.
  • each leg 3 is supported by a guide pin 15 or the like, which is preferably firmly inserted into the associated leg 3 and inwards, i.e. points in the direction of the plate 10, along a guide groove 16.
  • the guide groove 16 essentially consists of three areas, namely an essentially straight area 16a, on the left in FIG. 1, an area 16b with two or more locking grooves 18a, 18b, 18c etc. connects.
  • the guide groove 16 merges into an area 16c which has an arcuate shape.
  • the locking grooves 18a etc. are essentially one above the other.
  • Fig. 2 shows a side view of the folding stool in the almost folded state. If the folding stool is folded from the position shown in FIG. 1 by pivoting the pair of legs 3 clockwise about the pin 5 onto the pair of legs 2, the guide element 15 slides out of the respective latching groove 18a or 18b etc. into the largely straight region 16a until the two pairs of legs 2, 3 as shown in FIG. 2 reach a position parallel to one another. As soon as the two pairs of legs 2, 3 shown in FIG. 2 have reached parallelism, the guide element 15 reaches the region 16b which runs in the form of a circular arc, as a result of which the seat surface 1 can be rotated downward in the direction of arrow B in FIG the pairs of legs 2, 3 come to lie between them.
  • the arcuate guide groove region 16c is moved clockwise, while the guide element 15 remains stationary and thereby a sliding movement between the guide element 15 and the groove area 16c to the end of the arcuate groove.
  • the circular arc-shaped guide groove area 16c lies on a circle around the axis of rotation defined by the sleeve 12, the radius of the circular arc of the groove section 16c about this axis of rotation being the distance between the axis of the sleeve 12 and that of the guide element 15 corresponds.
  • Fig. 3 shows details of a preferred guide element 15, or the like from a sleeve 22 with internal and external thread, a grub screw 15a and a knurled head 20.
  • the setscrew 15a is screwed through the threaded sleeve 22, which is provided in each of the two legs 3.
  • the threaded sleeve 22 can preferably have a length that is greater than the thickness of the leg 3, so that the threaded sleeve 22 engages with its end facing the plate 10 in the guide groove 16 and serves as a guide element opposite the guide groove 16.
  • the set screw in this case has the task of engaging in a recess at the end of each locking groove 18a, 18b when latching into one of the locking grooves 18a, etc., the recessing of the locking grooves being indicated by reference numeral 24 in FIG. 3.
  • This has the advantage that when the folding stool is unfolded and the threaded sleeve 22 engages in one of the locking grooves 18a, 18b etc. by means of the knurled head 20 or the like.
  • the grub screw 15a can be turned forward until it engages in the recess 24a, 24b etc. of the associated locking groove 18a, 18b etc. and thereby prevents the sleeve 22 from being disengaged from this locking groove.
  • the pin 15a can take over the guide function along the guide groove 16 if it is circumferentially smooth over its length engaging in the guide groove 16, ie it is designed without an external thread and the sleeve 22 does not protrude from the leg 3, that is to say it has a length corresponding to the plate thickness.
  • a recess corresponding to the recess 24 can be provided on the end of the guide region 16c facing away from the guide groove region 16 with the purpose of locking the folding stool in a position in which the pairs of legs 2, 3 reach the parallel position shown in FIG. 2 have and the seat 1 is folded in the direction of arrow B in Fig. 2 in the plane of the pairs of legs 2, 3. In this way it can be achieved that an unintentional opening of the folding stool, for example during its transportation, is prevented.
  • Fig. 1 shows the folding stool in an operational position, in which the guide element 15 or 22 snap into the lowest locking groove 18a, so that the seat 1 is aligned substantially horizontally. If the guide element 15 or 22 is snapped into one of the overlying locking grooves 18b, 18c etc., a more or less strong inclination of the seat surface 1 with respect to the horizontal is achieved.
  • the two pairs of legs 2, 3 have to be moved slightly towards one another so that the guide element 15 can be moved out of the locking groove 18a, then upwards and into the locking groove 18b or 18c.
  • the seat 1 carries out a pivoting movement in the direction of arrow A.
  • the folding stool can immediately be brought into the fully folded state, provided that the setscrew 15a in the embodiment according to FIG. 3 does not engage in one of the recesses 24, so that the guide element 15 is displaced, for example, from the latching groove 18c in the locking groove 18a is omitted and the guide pin 15 from the locking groove 18c immediately in the Area 16a and then relocated to area 16c.
  • the bearings 12, 13 and the guide pin 15 are approximately at the same height.
  • the size of the seat 1 and the arrangement of the cross struts 7, 8 is such that there is sufficient space between the upper edge of the legs 2, 3 in Fig. 2 and the cross struts 7, 8 to pivot the seat 1 in this To allow space.
  • FIG 1 and 2 show, in the embodiment shown, a support element 26 is fastened to the upper end face of the legs 3, on which the upper end face of the leg 2 comes into contact when the folding stool is opened.
  • the folding stool can be used particularly advantageously as an additional part to the chair according to patent application P 36 07 581 or P 36 07 619 and enables optimal adjustment to the body shape of his with differently adjusted folding furniture or folding armchair Use as a footrest.
  • Fig. 4 shows the use of the folding stool according to the invention in connection with a folding armchair, preferably with a folding armchair according to patent application P 36 07 581 or P 36 07 619. From Fig.
  • an additionally slidable backrest part can be applied to the seat surface 1, for example in the form of the element 34 shown in dashed lines in FIG. 1.
  • Support parts 36, 37 which surround the seat surface 1 or the side frame 11 of the seat surface 1 and support the backrest 34 with respect to the side frame 11 by a clamping action.
  • the folding stool according to the invention with an adjustable seat 1 can also be used as a stool with a backrest, the backrest being adjustable in inclination together with the seat 1.
  • the backrest 34 is pushed onto the seat 1 from the right.
  • the backrest 34 is preferably placed on the seat surface 1 from the left and in this way allows a comfortable adjustment of the backrest inclination with a corresponding adjustment of the inclination of the seat surface 1.
  • the backrest is at a short distance from the adjustment or locking mechanism, which is formed from the elements 15, 18.
  • the folding furniture according to the invention can also be used particularly advantageously as a footrest, e.g. B. to couch sets or the like.
  • the surface 1 can optionally be padded or provided with a covering or the like and serves as a foot support surface.
